I know I'm putting this post out early but I want to make sure everyone is aware of the CCE.

After the doors closed at 5pm on Saturday 18, 2010 plans for the 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo were in motion. Of course, we have to make the 2011 show bigger and better as the 2010 show was sold out with over 70 artist and 50 dealer tables. We also doubled our attendance projections.

In selecting a new venue we knew we needed a bigger venue with better lighting, chairs, atmosphere and food. After reviewing all available options and exploring every unique space within Cincinnati we decided on the Duke Energy Center's Junior Ballroom. The CCE can grow with the facility. It is also right off the highway, surrounded by hotels, and a few blocks from Oktoberfest happening the same weekend. Our visiting guests had a blast attending this event after the show.

The date is September 17, 2011 with load in on September 16, 2011. I can also confirm an all day parking rate of $5 right next door to the event facility. The walking distance will be the same as last year.

Registration for comic creators and vendors opened up on January 1, 2011. Even though we added slightly more space we expect another sold out show. So if you plan on exhibiting get your registration in ASAP. As of now the floor space is over 50% sold.

Enough rambling as I’m sure people are wondering about the guest line-up for 2011. For now I can confirm the following and will announce others once I have absolute confirmation.

[font:Arial Black]Comic Book Icon Carmine Infantino Attending the 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo[/font]

reveal.jpg

Cincinnati- The staff of the 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo is very pleased and excited to announce that Hall of Fame comic book artist and DC Comics Publisher Emeritus Carmine Infantino will be the Guest of Honor at the upcoming event.

This legendary creator, with 3 US Postage Stamps to his credit, will always be remembered as the personification of DC Comics’ Silver Age. Infantino helped to resurrect a dying comics industry in 1956, as the artist who launched the Silver Age with his co-creation; the FLASH and remains the best-loved Flash artist of all-time. Infantino proved one of the all-time, great sci-fi artists with both ADAM STRANGE and STAR WARS. In 1964 he and Julius Schwartz saved BATMAN from impending cancellation with the "New Look" and co-created Batgirl--all of which inspired the '60s BATMAN TV-show and movie.

Infantino became an innovative Publisher and President at DC, launching comic books of pulp characters; the Shadow & Tarzan, the socially-relevant Adams-O’Neil GREEN LANTERN-GREEN ARROW series; Jack Kirby’s FOURTH WORLD saga; the revival of SHAZAM; pay raises; royalties; DC-Marvel crossover books including SUPERMAN vs. SPIDER-MAN (for which he designed the cover) and; the return of original art to freelancers.

Infantino's film and TV credits include SUPERMAN film I & II, SUPER-FRIENDS, ISIS & SHAZAM. COMICS BUYERS GUIDE's Millennium poll ranked Infantino and Jack Kirby as the two greatest comics pencilers of all-time!

Carmine Infantino has never appeared in the Cincinnati area before. At the age of 85, Carmine only attends 1 to 3 shows a year and very rarely has come to the Midwest. He has come as close as St Louis, Detroit, and Metropolis, IL. He says he enjoys socializing with people at the shows and for Cincinnati, he specifically looks “forward to meeting old and new friends alike.” Carmine went 25 years without a public appearance, then since the premiere of his Vanguard autobiography, THE AMAZING WORLD OF CARMINE INFANTINO, the Hall of Fame artist has returned. Stop by the Vanguard booth, to find this living legend signing and sketching.

“Carmine’s presence at the 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo makes this one of the premiere comic book events to attend this year. This would be a fantastic opportunity for any comic fan living in the region and personally get one of these autobiographies,” said Cincinnati Comic Expo’s Matt Bredestege.

The show will run from 10:00am to 5:30pm on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Duke Energy Center. Admission is $10 and children under 10 are free with a paying adult. There will be comics, graphic novels, cards, toys, and a costume contest. The public is invited to check out http://www.cincinnaticomicexpo.com/ for details and updates.

My friend and are planning on attending. This will be our first comic-convention. Anyone have any tips on how to make it an awesome experience?

Do tickets need to be bought ahead of time?

What are the VIP tickets, and how much more might they be?

Should we go VIP, or regular?

Should we browse vendor stock early, or late? I've heard that if you browse late, you'll get better deals, but if you browse early the selection is better?

Thoughts?

Artist Tables are SOLD OUT! Due to overwhelming demand we have reached our capacity for Artist Alley.

For the fans, we will be going through all the registrations and are awaiting many of the creator's bios to arrive. As soon as we have the information we'll get them posted as quickly as possible. Artist registration opened on 1/1/11 and it was gone within 9 weeks! We are definitely going to need more space for 2012.

For the vendors, some vendor space is still available. Contact Andrew Satterfield, andrew@cincinnaticomicexpo.com, about registering vendor space.

The Expo does sell tickets in advance. On-line tickets will be offered at the beginning of June. Prior to the show open last year around 200-300 people were in line. If line waiting is not your thing then I would go with a VIP ticket.

THE VIP PACKAGE COMES WITH THESE AMAZING BONUSES!

-Early admission – Get on the show floor before the masses crowd the aisles!

- Pick up your VIP package at Will Call

- Early Admission (9:00am)

- Free Go Green Bag (Ringtail sponsored them last year and looks to again)

- Free 2011 T-shirt

- Free Exclusive poster by Jose Delbo (in protective poster tube)

- Free Exclusive poster by Luke Smarto (in protective poster tube)

- Free Exclusive poster by TBA (in protective poster tube)

- Free Trading Pin! compliments of Pop Trading Pins!

- other items to be announced after confirmation

Last year VIP package was $50 and looks to be that amount again.

In the works…This year we are exploring the option of a LIMITED VIP RECEPTION with our special guest. This will take place the evening before the Expo. As soon as we work out the details we’ll let everybody know.

Antonelli College to Serve as Sponsor for Cincinnati Comic Expo

Posted on March 7, 2011 by Antonelli College Ohio

The Antonelli College Graphic Design department will lend their endorsement to the Sept. 17 Cincinnati Comic Expo at the Duke Energy Convention Center. The show will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The school will serve as the official sponsor for the 2011 show’s poster series created by Jose Delbo and Luke Smarto.

“The Cincinnati Comic Expo is a very unique event, especially within our region,” said Campus Director Karen Gautreau. “We are very happy to give our support to the Expo’s organizers and the artists. Events like this validate artistic industries and give our graduates another option for a career path.”

Antonelli College first became involved with the Cincinnati Comic Expo when Graphic Design instructor Ricky Henry, and program alumni, Chad Schoettle, debuted their manga-inspired graphic novel Monster Management Security Bureau of Cincinnati (MMSBC) at the show.

“I am incredibly proud to have been a part of the 2010 show as an artist; 2011 will be just as exciting because I am going to have the chance to speak with aspiring artists about their options and show them their dreams are within reach, as well as release the next chapter of the book.” said Henry.

Representatives from the Graphic Design, Photography and Business programs will be on hand to speak with interested attendees.

The Cincinnati Comic Expo will feature numerous creators and vendors at the single-day showcase. In addition to the main exhibit floor, attendees can also participate in panel sessions, gaming and costume contests. The Expo is noted as largest one-day comic show in the Midwest.

In 1993 he started working with DC Comics on Legion of Superheroes and later on Green Lantern. Co-creating the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern, Parallax, and other characters was a great honor and challenge for Darryl's costume design skills.

In addition to various other projects for DC, his work also includes Captain America and X-Men for Marvel, Tomb Raider: Epiphany from Top Cow, GI Joe Reloaded for Devil's Due Publishing, Johnnie Zombie for Midgard Comics and covers to Moonstone's Phantom series.
