Round 6 arrives with a bang! The Boardies will vote, narrowing things down a bit in these preliminary rounds. Eventually we will have a favorite SA/BA Neal Adams vintage cover champion! :acclaim:

This round showcases the first 28 Adams covers from 1970 in chronological order, beginning the Bronze Age.

You may recognize a certain green cover this round, along with some other classics. Vote count remains at 7.

Pick what you love, not what you think is popular.

Don't be shy with your comments. Let's hear why you made your choices. Influencing others with commentary is encouraged. :gossip:

ugh not feeling that Challengers..

I really like Tec 397, but probably moreso because the story inside is so great.

Best thing for me on 397 is the unique purple color. I'm not buying the "Batman pushed off a building by a fat civilian" premise. The black cat menacing the beautiful damsel with its deadly scratching attack on Challengers 72 is so much more believable. lol

The interesting part about these cover polls is that the good and great covers look average compared to the outstanding ones. lol

Although we can vote for 7 covers this round, I chose only two:

-GL 76

-HOM 185

To me, those two covers rose above the pack. I was unable to chose more than two covers, and I quite frankly can't determine if it was because all of the covers are fantastic or just plain medicore. (shrug)

I don't know what it is about HOM 185, but personally, it has always struck me as one of the least desirable of of the earlier Adams DC horror covers (esp HOM).

The market reflects that. It is one of if not the easiest and cheapest to obtain in high grade of all the Adams HOM covers. Still a cool cover IMHO.

A familiar motif for Adams on his gothic covers was the use of similar looking gargoyles from one cover to the next, and these are among my favorites of his. Bats #221 is a great example. We have already seen HOM #175 in a previous round. Can you guys name some other Adams gargoyle motif covers without cheating? There are at least 5 more I can come up with. :baiting:
