Phantom Stranger #14 - Man-Thing prototype? hm
Phantom Stranger 14 is one of my favourite covers in this section. Adams does an equally excellent Man-Thing cover for Fear 11, which we'll be seeing soon.

First Man-Thing was Savage Tales 1, but I didn't know how PS 14 was chronologically related to it . Thought I'd have a look, just out of curiosity.

GCD says Savage Tales 1 first - May 1971, then House of Secrets 92 - Jun / Jul 1971, then Phantom Stranger 14 - Jul / Aug 1971.

The one thing these polls have solidified in my mind is how weak his JLA covers were compared to the others. Outside of the last couple they look bad compared to most of his other work.

No votes for the underrated flying box springs Superboy masterpiece??!! :frustrated:

:)

Hard to belive. No accounting for taste on these boards.

I have one but I had to buy it.

:sorry:

I have always thought All Star Western 5 is underrated, but it doesn't look to be the case here with the boardies. 6 votes so far is more than I would have thought.
I'd like to see the original artwork for All-Star Western 5 and, for that matter, any of Adams' covers done in the same style.

In technique / shading it reminds me of Phantom Stranger 10 and what was said about that cover...

I have seen the PS 10 OA cover, and it is on a whole 'nother level. The line work is exquisite. The printed cover does not come close to doing it justice.

Ask and you shall receive, owned by a boardie and everyone's favorite X-Men Inker Scott Williams.

Thanks for posting this. :) As was said, it's on an entirely different level altogether to the printed cover. Really like it. (thumbs u

Always interesting to see extra details such as the Joe Orlando in-joke here, obscured in the published version.
