So the main roads through town are all open for travel again. Spent an hour this afternoon just driving...you think you get numbed from all the news reports and pictures online and in the papers, but it is still heartbreaking.

 

So many people doing great work though...the military is here helping out, as are police from jurisdictions throughout the state. Volunteers are everywhere and everyone is pitching in...donations, clearing debris, searching for survivors, offering their homes to strangers...the list goes on and on. So much loss, but the people here are amazingly resilient. Makes me proud to be a Tuscaloosan. :luhv:

 

Anyway, the LCS is going forward with Free Comic Day to try to bring some joy to the community (will be there all day helping s[read the cheer). They are quite lucky as the devastation starts no more than a quarter mile up the street from their strip mall. And some (worship) to the brilliant guy that the manager is...he is also turning it into a charitable event. Food drives, the Salvation Army, and the Humane Society are all showing up :) Some local BBQs are sponsoring him and giving out food to all who stop by. Should be just what some folks need (sorry for getting all misty here).

 

Again, Dale I just wanted to thank you on behalf of all the residents down here for such generosity. I have seen firsthand what a difference all this help we are receiving is making, and it is literally lifechanging for some of the residents here. Of course, our gratitude also goes out to all the buyers and additional folks that made straight donations (nameless I know :devil: ) and offered up books as well.

 

So my :preach: being done...let me take a small stack of reading as well.

Great to hear things are getting better, even if it is very slowly. It has been a rough time for alot of people, and it just shows you that most people are good, and want to help out there fellow man. I am very proud of the people of this board for all the good they do.
