Crusty Bunkers - A Nerf tale of Heroes Con 2011! (Large Photos/ Video)

37 posts in this topic

From the set up on Early Thursday until noon Sunday it was a show I will never forget!

It was cool to help out Rick (capt comics) with the set-up and operations of his booth.

I was very busy PR'ing and networking, but I still found time to make the show and snag

some nice comics.

As most of you already know I got to hold a nice Ditko page and eventhough I didn't get a chance

buy it there - it was nice to atleast imagine owning it for a second.

Friday was a juggling blur, working hard to schedule and set up all the events was time consuming.

Mapping out the restaurant, getting a last head count and sending that to the chefs, getting

the limos reserved/ ready and the direction the special guest family. Lining up the after party...

But it was worth it...

The Dinner:

What can one say about an evening with the Adam's?...

Awesome!

I didn't really plan on sitting next to Neal and his fam, but Neal's lovely wife Marilyn insisted so I

did. I wish I had a tape recorder or a vid cam on me to take down every word - but I was a

sponge on every lecture styled topic he had to say.

One of the funniest moments of the night was when Dan (Buttock) came over to the table just to

say Hi and got drug into a deep lengthy lecture conversation. Neal rarely took breaks in his talk

and after 15 minutes of trying to interject I could see Dan composure start to wane to the point

of having to apologize for having to leave because the server was bringing out his food.

Listening to Neal's Ice Breaker joke:

Great report Wally. Thanks for posting the photos. I was going to make it to this show but my 4 year old twins finished their first year of pre-school. We went to Disney World to celebrate their achievement. :)

I plan to be there next year with my third "Korgi" graphic novel. Can't wait. The one time I went to Heroes two years ago was a blast. Such a great old-school feel to this show with the focus on the comics/original art and a lot of families I noticed supporting all-ages books.

Without further ado...

Neal saw me the next day and called me over to the front of the line.

He had 2 different books he signed for J and this sketch (I told him the previous night that

I am not a signature type of guy, but it would be cool to get something for my kid).

Wally, it was a brilliant idea to have Neal as a surprise guest at the dinner.

We just couldn't make it. After a show I'm usually so wiped that I need to spend an hour or two recovering and getting work done in the hotel room before grabbing some dinner.

It was great hanging with you, Tyler and Bryan in Tyler's room.

Good times!
