Detective Comics 21

Staples are rusted and the cover has pulled through both staples. Looks like the cover is still barely hanging on but am afraid of detaching it if I try to see for sure.

One more for tonight..

Action Comics 5

Very nice colors and OW pages.

The book has a 1 1/2" spine split on bottom of spine, small spine split top of spine, rusted staples, and a waterstain on the front cover. Both staples are attached.

Asking $3500

epi dot, marshall stack, shure sm 58. kept my gibson les paul bass. the owner of the music store was begging me to sell it to him. he offered about 200% over the value for it. gibson doesn't make many les paul basses and i got the first year they started manufacturing them again (either '94 or '95). it has too much sentimental value to me, i bought it from my inheritance from my grandfather when he died, he was a musician who had his own orchestra and radio show pre-war.

does anyone thing the tec is worthy of a bit of resto?

id keep it as is

+1

Other side of the fence here...if you know it is for you to keep long-term (and are not concerned as much about eventual resale) I would suggest at least getting it looked at. Staples are pretty rusty and over more time that will deteriorate the book a good deal I would think :juggle: . Also it would be nice to have the cover attached to the point that you are not afraid to open it for fear of detachment. However, if it is just a temporary traveler through your collection I would keep as is and let a more permanent owner decide.

Just my two cents

thinking long term ownership on this one. the only resto i was thinking was the staples replaced, possibly having the rust removed from the cover and attaching the cover securely.

i'm not big on detached covers or bad staples, but i couldn't pass this book up. i doubt i'd find another like this at that price. my grail is #1 but i'll never have one of those....

Shipping is $7 within the U.S., :takeit: in the thread trumps PMs. I'll probably add some more books later tonight but not sure which ones yet. But for now:

Fantastic Comics 3 (Scarce classic Lou Fine cover)

Low grade reader with nice colors and a nice interior. The cover is detached and the interior front cover has 6 small pieces of tape holding the covers together. Presents well for a lower grade copy. Not sure if this is a good resto candidate or better left as-is but that decision will be left for the next owner.

Tough book to find! No GPA sales listed and there are only 6 unrestored copies on the census. Heritage has sold one complete copy (a FN- in March 2002 for $12,650)

Asking $3500 $3000

I know of a couple of copies that have sold for very strong prices recently...3K is cheapest I have seen a Fan 3 initially offered since the ext resto book (ciorac) a few years back that I believe a boardie now owns
