I hate to admit, but I will be going regardless.

I promised my 4 year old son. He just about wets himself everytime he sees the commercials, Green Lantern has been his favorite forever. Anything he sees that is green is automatically associated with green lantern. For example he always wants the green gumballs because those are green lantern gumballs. He likes green cars because those are green lantern cars... It goes on and on.

I have to say though I am pretty proud of how I have corrupted his mind.

It is usually a bad sign when the advertising long before the movie is out, turns to quoting singular words out of context in reviews.

Words like "thrilling", "Incredible", "Fantastic", etc.

I look at these as snippets of what they're really saying:

"This movie is not thrilling"

"I find it incredible they could not afford an actual writer"

"Fantastic doesn't describe this movie, but poo-poo does"

I'm glad they're making comic movies, glad that some have been as good as they have been, but it's aggravating to see them churn out junk when they could do so much better.

Mr Popper's Penguins has doubled Green Lantern's rating on Rottentomatoes.com. How is that for perspective?

My gf asked me if I wanted to go see it. I passed even tho GL is the only DC book I have bought in years. :(

From the ads I get more of a Fantastic Four vibe than anything. For me, that is not a good vibe.

you know i must have hated ff 1; my wife gave me a surprise 50th b'day party, rented out a private screen at our local cinema, and i watched the flick with a hundred or so of my favorite people in the world. and STILL couldn't stand it.

It was the horrid writing. The worst line in the entire movie for me is when the FF re-group and are about to engage Dr. Doom in combat. Doom looks at them and what does he say?

"This will be fun"

Did the writers even read a comic that had Dr. Doom in it?

He would have said something more along the lines of...

"Richards, you must comprehend that the Futile Four's failure at the hands of Doom serves to gratify Doom's thirst to prove dominance. Your defeat wiill encapsulate Doom's very essence with vigor and will be unparalleled on a cosmic level. Muawahahah Muawahahah!!!"

Or something right?

Something like that..yeah

The one thing that I can't really say is poor D.C. ...

This movie had a 300 million dollar budget!

Heck you give me 1% of that and I will personally make a great movie

out of sock puppets!

:insane:

It's like one of my fav one liners from a movie called the Edge...

"Never feel sorry for a man who owns a plane".

ok, seems this won't be the 4th mainstream comic book flick i've missed. have confirmed that i'll be spending sat. nite in alabama after an afternoon deposition. looks like me and g.l. will meet up afterwards. might be panned by the critics, but can't be anything better to do in birmingham.

I am looking forward to seeing it but just from the brief clips it seems like they are going to try and jam in a lot of history (maybe too much) into the first movie. Also, some of the previews make the main character (Ryan Reynolds of course) look like too much like a fun loving goof. (shrug) However, what do you expect from DC they can't even make most of their main series readable. I just recently picked up another modern Action Comic or Superman issue and every time I do I regret it, absolute garbage.

it's a darn shame about the reviews.

kind of upsetting. :sorry:

I'm still gonna see it for sure. But having rating that low is pretty bad but who knows.

Kinda puts a slight damper on going into it.
