Comic collections and insurance

5 posts in this topic

Hey all -

Now that I have a fair number of books, mostly high-grade Silver, I am thinking about having them insured as part of my apartment insurance. I was wondering if people here have advice about:

1. Getting the comics appraised?

2. How to come up with a fair insurance value, given that prices realized for HG books are often over Overstreet Guide standards?

3. Any good insurance companies that cover expensive collectibles, i.e., who would realize that these comics are "worth" more than the ten and twelve-cent cover prices?

I have probably spent $10-14K over the past six years on my collection, buying many unslabbed and many more slabbed. If anyone has any thoughts on this topic, or can relate how YOU have your comics insured, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks and happy holidays! laugh.gif
