I've always thought the covers to Batman 221 and Detective 405 were overlooked masterpieces. Something about the crouching, predatory Batman image. (thumbs u

#221 is my favorite. Been looking for a HG copy for a long time.

Like the "short ear" Bats.

Can't beat #221 for a vintage Adams quintessential Batman cover. The composition is top notch and it features his recurring gargoyle theme. Gotta love the Adams gargoyle covers. :cloud9:

My fave is Tomahawk #116, followed by House of Mystery #88, Batman #227, and Ltd Edit Collectors Edition C-51.

Thanks for all the hard work putting up the scans and polls! :applause:

Looks like it is a 7 horse race for the title. 4 featuring a millionaire playboy orphan who fights crime, 1 featuring a guy with a green power ring, 1 horror and 1 western. Will any of them challenge the current leader, AKA Bruce Wayne? :baiting:

I wonder how Adams feels that the cover voted #1 is a homage to someone else's previous work?

Homeage or not its my favourite cover as well and i think will be a well deserved winner if it wins. By the way when is the last day for voting.

This is an open ended poll, so there is no expiration. I will petition the mods to move this thread to the "Permanent Polls" area shortly, but for the purposes of the contest that is tied to this final round, I'll probably stop counting votes and declare a champion this weekend. I'd like to get to at least 1000 votes, and we are at around 850 now.

Doesn't surprise me that Batman 227 is winning. Tec 31 won the favorite cover contest in the Gold forum 5 years ago.

Really? I think the Adams homage is far superior. There are so many more GA covers I would personally put in front of Tec 31. hm

Which of your favorite Adams covers are missing from the final 39? Where did the boardies get it wrong in preliminary voting? I'm missing these, off the top of my head:

X-Men #57 (Sentinels)

Batman #222 (Beatles)

House of Mystery #189 (Mummy's tomb)

All-Star Western #5 (Gun-fight close-up)

Detective #412 (Batman vs. jousting knight)

Phantom Stranger #14 (Swamp creature)

Detective #415 (Hanging cover)

Green Lantern #87 (John Stewart)

Avengers #96 (Vision going berserk)

Superman #252 (Wrap-around)

Conan #37 (Generally awesome)

Justice League #138 (Adam Strange)

Superman vs. Ali Treasury (Too many celebrities to count)

Which books that made the finals really surprised me by getting there?

House of Mystery 177

House of Mystery 178

House of Mystery 185

Phantom Stranger #18

Tomahawk #123

HOM 185 really surprises me. I enjoy most of Neal's work, but this one is really a 'meh' to me. Not a big fan of the Supes 243 either. The Supes/Ali Treasury should have made it easily, and the ASW #5 is just a fave. Conan #37 should be here also.
