Nov Heritage auction

One of my favourite artists of the 70's and 80's, so always great to see some nice Perez material coming up. I think that it will be more interesting though, to see how the NTT cover on Comiclink ( http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview%2Easp%3Fcode%3D2011nov%26pg%3D10%23Item%5F905208&id=905208 ) competes with Heritage price wise, especially as the Heritage pieces have been around the block and i dont recall seeing the Comiclink cover on the market before.

Nice to see a lot of the Perez art...at one time I used to own most of those New Teen Titans covers (that includes the one on Comiclink as well). Very nice in person.

Also used to own the X-Men 137 pg...wish I still did...I do expect that page to go for some serious coin.

-Death of Phoenix issue?

-One of the only TWO pages of the actual DEATH SEQUENCE????

-Jean as Dark Phoenix in one of the few pages she actually appears in the entire issue of one of the MOST IMPORTANT comics EVER?

-"I'm holding on by my fingernails..." (Jean losing control of herself)

Yes please.

If this one doesn't set some serious new records in the world of Byrne X-Men, I'll eat my portfolio...it really deserves to go WELL ABOVE what your average Killing Joke or Dark Knight or Watchmen page does.

I think this time BOTH Heritage and Comiclink have come up with a lot of nice art between the Perez (NTT covers, etc), Miller (DD 185 and 190 covers, DK and Wolverine pages), and Ditko (CLink just added a page from Spidey 12)...it's an interesting end of the year...

No scans yet, but here are two impressive additions:

Jerry Robinson Detective Comics #67 First Penguin Cover Original Art (DC, 1942).

http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7039&lotIdNo=190001

Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Adventure Comics #73 Manhunter Cover Original Art (DC, 1942). Adventure Comics

http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7039&lotIdNo=190002

If the Detective cover is a Jerry Robinson consignment, it will be interesting if the reserve will be super high like the two unsold covers in Comic Connect a year ago.

HOLY ! These 2 covers are friggin' SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT STUFF!

Even if they have reserves and the reserves are high, they are both well worth it.

Detective- first Penguin cover? Yes please. One of the more important Batman villains (second only to Joker). A nice cover by the right artist, not to mention so FEW Golden Age covers survived. Pretty damn cool.

Adventure- I always loved this classic image of Manhunter. Very iconic Simon and Kirby work and I'm happy to see it survived at all.

Serious bucks are well-deserved for both.

Scan for the Adventure is up. It is from Jerry's collection so likely "reserve not met"

Still a cool cover but looks a bit brittle.

....something like that should really be restored.....for it to turn to dust in the name of some principle is kind of sad. GOD BLESS...

Fact is, when it comes to really great 1940s covers, it's just a Godsend that they SURVIVED! And Robinson saved some winners for sure...just a pleasure to see these.

(On another note, Superman #14 may not have met reserve, but it certainly is one of the very best pieces of Superman artwork ever to be drawn)
