TORONTO COMICON returns! Sunday, November 20/2011 with Don Kramer

75 posts in this topic

This sounds like a great idea.

I would love to meet up with anyone in the area, either at the show or for a beer one evening. I am free all day Sunday and Monday and Tuesday evenings only.

The only problem I have about Niagara is how to get there and back to Oakville in an evening. I have looked at the Go transit site but parts of it are down.

I really shouldn't pass up the chance of going though.

If I can get to the Falls one evening I would be able to attend the show and meet for a beer too.

Who's in?

Neil

Sunday after the show would probably be best for a night together.

Monday and Tuesday would be tougher, especially for out of towners like us.

Renting a Limo to Niagara would be fastest but I'd expect it to get about $200 one way and slightly more two way. Very pricey. You might want to look into some shuttle services which are more economical. Because they cater to more people, and Oakville would be between the toronto airport and Niagara Falls it might be a possibility. Still might cost you $70 one way though.

I can make some calls if you like.

Other than that I can only recommend a bus like Greyhound or the Go Train.

Car rental would be cheapest and most efficient. Can you drive over here though?

Thanks for the offer Roy.

It doesn't look like I can get to the Falls on an evening (cars are not a viable option) so I think I will be going on the Sunday and come into Toronto to meet for a beer or two in the evening.

Just let me know where and when.

If this changes then I will make the convention but I can't justify passing up the Falls for a comic con.

[font:Book Antiqua]Hello nmtg9:

If you are going to the Fallview Casino you can apply for the casino card

It’s free and you can get it in 10 minutes,

With that you can make round trips from Toronto to Niagara for $ 5 dollars

The bus come out every 2 hours (If my memory its correct)

The bus belong to a Chinese company that have arrangement with the casino

If you don’t have the card the trip it’s like 25 dollars, still cheap

When the bus come to Toronto make stops in all the big name hotels

And of course some of them close to the convention center

If you are not familiar with the area let me know and maybe I can help.

Hello everyone, I going to be there the Sunday and of course beer or dinner sounds good...

hope to meet some boards members there...

Gang, sorry. I haven't been on the boards much since last week.

I'm in if anyone else is (and it looks like Andrew and Neil are) for Sunday night.

Anybody else want to join in?

We can just find a quaint pub somewhere around the convention centre within walking distance.

Best,

Roy.

If it's right after the show then I'm out as I will have my 7 year old daughter with me and driving home and back downtown is a little crazy. Oh well. Have fun!

Yeah I am definitely coming down, at least for the meet up afterwards.

Looks like the weather is going to be rainy so it's particularly bad I may just head over to the con and leave Niagara till another time. (shrug)

Leave the house on Friday.

Looks like we'll have some exciting news about our 2012 comic events within the next couple of weeks (hoping we'll have something to tell people on Sunday, but that's a long shot right now) ---- next year is shaping up to be an exciting one!

Is there any reason to wait until after the show? If everyone is there in the afternoon and has finished perusing the dollar bins, we could go for a late afternoon, pre-dinner pint.

Thoughts?

I Agree

In my experience I go to this show

for the 1 Dollar Reading material for the next 3 months.

I finish after 1 or 2 hours...

So I am ok for drinks after that...

I have some auctions after that I have to keep an eye

so I have to go back home (and the computer)

So... your idea it’s perfect for me

Since Roy is the only boardie I would recognize (well, other than Bruno and Marco, but they aren't going for drinks on Sunday), I'll track him down at the con and we can figure out our plans.

That's the problem with being so recognizable, Roy. Your gravitational pull is strong.
