Once Upon A Time on ABC = Fables?

Fables rip-off? I haven't read Fables but know the concept of the book. Does anyone who saw the Once Upon A Time pilot tonight think its a rip-off of Fables?

I missed the show, but it sounds just like it from the commercials.

 

There's another series called Grimm that starts up next week that seems to be borrowing from it.

Grimm seems to borrow HEAVILY as well. There's a Big Bad Wolf character whose demeanor is straight out of Fables.

Nope, since their characters were based on characters that were in the public domain, unless the networks get a lot closer to the story or use the exact same new names that DC used, I doubt it.

 

From the looks of the story it's not anywhere close to the Fables narrative structure. So it's doubtful.

The shame is that it will almost guarantee that we will never see Fables in a TV or movie setting.
