I might just take you up on that offer (regarding the agent). I'm clueless in regards to US real estate values, except that they've been tanking.

Marks place is nice.

rent would be my suggestion based on the market and your plans not set in stone. Even in a better market I might suggest renting for a year unless you were very familiar with the area
