PGM: Marvel Spotlight 2

I looked through a loupe and the schmutz all over the front cover is ink from the same exact book sitting above it (offsetting),

and the same issue is on the back cover. You can see the football shape

ghosted on the front cover.

 

When originally printed, the book must have been piled too high on the skid when it was completed in bindery and the weight offset the ink

and sat untouched until dried and "peeled" apart, possibly when the printer was boxing it up.

It does not appear to be a drier/heatset issue with the ink, as it looks like a post-bindery issue.

 

It's a production/quality control error, and I'm not sure what this does for the grade.
