All the DC house ads were designed by Ira Schnapp, who also designed all the logos for DC's books.

I did not know about this guy. Pretty cool that one guy designed all those logos. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the share.

The wiki article is very limited.

This link, otoh, is for a feature length article on Schnapp and is both well-written and profusely illustrated. I can't recall any ads that approached Schnapp's work for DC.

Part 2 of the Blog has 2 egregious errors in that the purported original art to Action 1 is a Flee-marquette photoshop and the pic of the newstand with Action 1s is a photoshop by person unknown.

I hope you'll pardon the posting of some of the more esoteric and mundane along with the key.

Me I'll take the mundane over the key anytime. I get tired of seeing the same old thing(key).

In 1970, I think I would spend as much time "reading" these pages as I did the regular comic pages.

I agree! The ads, letter pages and other features made for a fuller reading experience.

Thanks for the link! It's a fabulous article! And it contains this great quote along with everything else:

Seduction of the Innocent[/i]]

I have known many adults who have treasured throughout their lives some of the books they read as children. I have never come across any adult or adolescent who had outgrown comic-book reading who would ever dream of keeping any of these 'books' for any sentimental or other reason.

I guess old Freddy never looked very hard.

lol
