Ace Comics #11 - 1st app The Phantom in comic books (Feb 1938). Took me years to find a nice copy of this one.

 

All-American Comics #25 - 1st app Dr. Mid-Nite. This book is harder to find than you would think. Highest unrestored grade is a 6.5.

 

Daredevil Battles Hitler #1 - 1st issue of Daredevil and a classic Hitler GA cover. What's not to love? Thanks to Straw-Man for selling me this one.

 

More Fun Comics #73 - 1st app Green Arrow and Aquaman. Finally got one of these after being outbid a few times in the last couple of years.

 

Superman #1 - my grail, done!

I have to say at the outset that I'll probably be posting revisions before the end of the year as several spectacular things are forthcoming. The difficulty will be in picking which ones to substitute.

 

Bound to start things off with a bang...

 

 

This vital book stretches things a bit...

 

 

But this awesome Timely arrival has it all (bondage, babes, nazi skull-druggery)...

 

 

And this one is the Cat's meow...

 

 

Not to be outdone, here's a double-play with two winners hit out of the ballpark...

 

 

 

And one just for today and the good ol' USA...

 

 

Then there's the most Daredevil of off-Axis WWII comics (the ultimate GA war comic, IMO)...

 

 

And to Cap it all off...

 

 

 

 

OK, that's elven as Peter Jackson would say (or not), but it's not the finalized list for 2011. I intentionally left a couple of things out for sequential harmony. Substitutions were made to hit the magic elven number, not that I'm any less proud of the acquisitions above.

Thanks! The AA #19 would have definitely graded significantly higher if not for a very small piece that was torn off the upper-left corner of the back cover.

On the other hand, I did acquire that book for a decent price!

Thanks gentlemen. I didn't think I had got that much stuff this year then I started checking,

Next week I will post the best book of the year (even though I do like all those ones a lot) for me.
