124 posts in this topic

Prices are now up on the DWC website. Sorry if it is a little messy. I wanted to get the info up and worry about the looks of it later. Heading off to the airport to fly to another show this weekend. If you have any questions or problems regarding submitting books at the London Super Comic Con please don't hesitate to contact us at StanLeeUK@desertwindcomics.com. Thank you for your patience. DWC is really looking forward to coming to this show.

Just read the site and unlike Waylander, I'm a touch confused.

Say I want my Infinity Gauntlet 1 signed by Stan and George. I turn up to the Desert Wind stand with my unsigned book and completed submission form (And obviously with my payment).

They then take the book and have it signed by both artists (i.e. I don't queue for Stan).

Fairly sure I've got this wrong. I've already paid the fee to stand in line for a Stan sig.

Excuse my ignorance. As I stated elsewhere, I've never done a sig series before and want to make sure I fully understand the process so I don't **spoon** it up and spoil my day.

Gents,

I said it's not messy - not that it's not confusing. I was about to ask a question about payment as I am confused even though it is clearly written (as I am a dumb@ss) - i.e. if paying by PayPal, do you pay in advance and what do you bring as evidence of payment. Moreover, if the exchange rate changes what about any tweat payments / refunds, if we have paid in advance?

And I make three.

I think, and I may have this totally wrong, what you've paid for is to stand in line and get something signed, however, this won't be cgc ss, it will just be a raw comic or book or picture that Stan will sign in front of you.

If you want it to be cgc ss, you go to the DW booth, fill out the paperwork and they take it from there. You will finally receive the slabbed book back direct from cgc in a few months.

As I say, this is just my understanding and I would love some clarification as well.

Especially as we're limited to one book per person when standing in line?

If I'm right (hey, it could happen), in addition to what you pay for your tier 1,2 or 3 Stan ticket, you will be looking at a further $130 per cgc ss arranged through DW.

If this is the case, I'll get one book signed raw by Stan and one book CCG ss by Stan via DW.

I was going to get my Swamp Thing 1 CCG ss by Bernie W, but I think I'll just get him to sign a raw hardback book, as otherwise I'll have spent a fortune without actually buying any comics.

Yes I didn't really think about the cost of this until I started totalling up!

+1

Would it be better to get two books CGC SS through DwC as the shipping for 1 book and 2 are the same (£42.00)?

If this ends up to be the case, I might forgoe getting a comic signed and bring along one of my Marvel litho's for a Stan sig.

I'll prob get DW to get a couple of SS books sorted for me.

Guess we'll just have to wait for DW to come back to get a definitive answer.

the DWC booth is next to Stans signing so it goes like this -

either print off one of the submission forms or get one from the booth, fill it in with what you want to do, if its just Stan then queue up, get it signed by him then enter the DWC area, DO NOT LEAVE this area otherwise they cant authenticate it.

if its any other person you want signing the book then go to DWC and they will have someone escort you to the signature so they can witness it and then back to DWC to submit.

hope this helps

That makes sense, except what does the tier 1,2,3 tickets cover? Let's say you get a tier 1 ticket for £21. If I don't want my book cgc'd I'm covered. But if I do want it cgc'd, I have to pay the DW fee of $130 on top of the £21? :juggle:

Hey guys. Sorry if it is not clear. I know for some of you that this is a completely new thing and we will try to make it as easy as possible for you. Let me say a few things.

1. Due to Stan's really busy schedule I would anticipate that this might be the ONLY time that San will be visiting a con in the UK. So with that said this might be your only chance to get him on some books and to have them CGC graded. So breaking out the piggy bank might be justified. Please tell me everyone has a comic book piggybank and it is not just me. lol

2. Because DWC will be bulk shipping all of the books back to CGC in one large shipment, this might be a good opportunity to get your books CGC graded at a lower overall costs. If you were to ship books to CGC on a 1 on 1 basis (not in bulk) then I would imagine the cost being much higher.

3. Due to CGC's new rules which includes NO HOLDS for a book to go from one show to another for multiple signatures this is a rare opportunity to get a multiple signature book graded. I mean think of the possibilities like a Stan Lee/George Perez book or a Stan Lee/Bob Layton signature on a nice Iron Man book. This is a great chance to get those now and only have to pay for the grading once.

So with those points mentioned I would hope that you see a great opportunity in front of you. Once I return on Monday from the New Orleans show, I will be happy to address any questions. In the meantime if you could come up with your specific questions for me to answer. Please put them in the form of a question so I know what question is being asked versus what is just a statement from you gents. If a question is asked please don't repeat it so that we can try to keep this thread as clean as possible.

Now to answer what has been asked so far.

If you purchased a Stan Lee ticket then you will still need to queue in line to get his signature. Once he signs your book then just step over to the DWC booth (which will be next to Stan in the Stan Lee signing area) and turn the book with your paperwork in to DWC. We will then take the book to get it signed by George Perez for you. You will pay for everything when you turn the book into DWC. As for the cost of that book. It would be a Modern Tier signed by Stan which costs £31 add £7 to add the signature of George Perez for a total of £38 and then you have return shipping. If you want to wait for a witness to be available to walk you and your book over to get it signed by George that is possible as well but it takes longer. I hope that helps.

Paying in advance would not be necessary since you are coming to the show. Since you are attending the show then you will be able to pay by cash, credit card or Paypal while at the DWC booth. Also you will not need to prefill out a CGC form prior to arriving at the show. You can just fill out the form at the DWC booth. Make sense?

As for the change in the exchange rate, since you are paying at the show, there would be no need for a refund? I was simply saying that the rates could change a little. Honestly gents, we are not worried about small changes, we just want to be clear that if the rate was to change to 1 British Sterling for 2 US Dollars then that would warrant a rate change. Does that make sense?
