Reading comics or watching good TV/Movies?

14 posts in this topic

Just a quick question for you guys. Outside of the whole hi-grade, valuation, completist thing, when it comes just right down to reading your books, what do you prefer? Reading your favorite comics or watching your favorite TV shows or videos/DVDs? And if you were put in jail for ten years and had two choices to bring with you, what would it be?

All your comics along with the daily newspaper each day.

OR

A nice big color TV and DVD player with a large selection of DVDs and cable (but no porn - sorry).

Just curious. ------Sid

If I were going to jail, I'd choose tv because the other inmates might think I'm a sissy for reading comics and try to take advantage of me! 893whatthe.gif

Seriously though, if it were any another type of situation where I would be isolated for a long period of time, I would chose the comic books. Those stories allow your imagination to roam free, and I could make up even more adventures for the characters in my mind.

First part is easy. When the mood to read a comic strikes I read a comic. When the mood to watch tv strikes I watch tv.

As far as the second option goes - I would have to choose the TV over the comics. I mean, Do I REALLY want to be incarcerated with only a ton of horror comics?

I seriously would choose the TV over the comics. Being incarcerated, I would probably start yearning for the real world - or at least the outside world. DVDs would help in that area. Also, I collect movie posters and movies as much as my comics so I would have to decide between two passions: and in my case the DVDs would have to be the choice!

And hopefully some of those DVDs will be scanned comic books!!!!!!!!!!! (loophole?) grin.gif

TV SUCKS!

I'd like to indulge in a fourth option of a computer where I can watch all my movies

and my comics burned to DVDs and I can drudge through the net on hipster forums too.

Would you guys repond to me if I wore the county orange jumpsuit? smirk.gif

Answer -- it depends... what's on TV? smile.gif

The Smallville finale was great! The writers of this series are apparently really big on cliffhangers. Nearly every character in the finale was up to something in the last few moments. And there was a naked "Supergirl" appearance (not enough appeared though, those teases!)!! blush.gifcloud9.gifsmile.gif

I hardly watch TV anymore outside of the daily news and sports.

I find sitting in front of the tube for hours makes me kinda passive and tired, when I read it's just the opposite, I get more focussed...

I watched tons of TV and movies in my 20's, but these days I tend to read about 3 hours every day, 2 newspapers, books, magazines and about 10 comics are my usual diet.

I can not imagine going anywhere without at least one item to read... confused-smiley-013.gif

In the big house I would probably be the guy with the book-cart that goes around from cell to cell trying to get the other guys to read 27_laughing.gif
