Is there a book similar to a price guide book but just has say first appearances of characters listed in it ?.. (shrug) I collect first apps but hell if i can remember the book number of every single random marvel or dc or what have you character lol Something like this would come in handy ... I know they list them in price guide books but they also list 1000000 + other books I don't really give a damn about & I also have to flip through those pages looking for that one random FA (shrug)

You can also get a copy of the Marvel Encyclopedia at Barnes & Noble as well. Expect to pay around $50 for it, but it does come in handy.

I believe they print one for the DC Universe as well. I collect the same way to a certain extent and have found these to come in handy.

They list all first appearances and the comics they are in, but they are not 'perfect.'

The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide will list key appearances and their origin (which I am sure you are aware); but you would have to know the title and issue before that has any use for you.

Hope that helps. The books I mentioned also make great 'coffee table' books.

Respectfully yours,

Didn't ohotmu and who's who always list first appearances? Admittedly they're not up to date but for older characters those are great references.

I remember reading those as a kid as a way of discovering new books or series.
