I was thinking the same thing.

 

I can't recall the last time I opened a men's magazine or saw one in a barbershop or some office somewhere or at a friend's house or anywhere besides 7-11's & Borders/Barnes&Noble.

 

I don't suppose I'm in the demographic but I honestly can't believe a demographic for printed porn exits much anymore or that it is in a large enough size to support a magazine publication.

 

Playboys were really big magazines, lots of glossy pages. That's lots of overhead if they're still the same.

 

Is there a market for softcore porn anymore either? This is a post George R.R. Martin world. Don't we all grow up with our fantasy fiction chockablock with extreme everything now?

 

I think there will ALWAYS be a market for photos of beautiful naked women.

 

And as for softcore porn, Cinemax seems to still be doing well,

 

However, I think sales for the last couple decades have probably been driven more by the Nekkid Celebrity Gal Of The Month that Hef publishes than the latest 18 year old naked cutiepoo

It doesn't make any sense to me (shrug)

 

He has said many times in his letter columns that he won't explore back stories and the origin of the zombies in the book. So.... I guess he still wants to tell the story. Plus, to him that is not the story he wants to tell. Putting it in Playboy is one more way to get some exposure and pull some new readers in.

Anyone know what the cover is going to look like? Not sure how the magazines date themselves as compared to the actual month. I would like to pick up this issue, but would hate to spend my money on the wrong one.

However, it's only 6 pages and takes about 45 seconds to read it.
