ASM 129 CGC 9.4 WP - $950 - no longer available - note: debris in case

Great price on this! I'd be all over it if I wasn't saving for a FF #1!

GLWTS

Too many books to buy, not enough cash - completely agree, this is a steal. If I had an extra $950 laying around I would definitely pick up this book myself. Hate to see it go, but I've got to fuel the fire.

:bump: No takers at this price? I really don't want to put this thing back on ebay. Minus shipping and insurance costs, this is only $930 - that's basically OS 9.2 guide AND below GPA AND has white pages. Someone on these boards must be looking for a deal on this book? Well here is your chance.

I haven't looked at GPA on this book for a few weeks, but last I had checked, it's average was slightly over $1k. btw - I'm 95% sure that 4/15 sale isn't valid - I believe that was a 'best offer' sale on ebay - but it is no longer listed in the completed sales - as it was a new seller and he relisted as an auction, which sold the other day for $980-ish (with shipping) - but that sale isn't showing up in the completed auctions either. Maybe that guy took the money (twice) and ran? The reason I know this is because watchers of my book were trying to deal with me based on his sale prices.

I have sold a few different 129s in different grades this year, I have a pretty good feel for it's 'market value' - I would say fair value on this book with white pages from a legitimate seller is right around $1,100 in the current market - I'm offering it for $950 (including shipping) due to the debris in the case and I need to raise some cash. I would call that a nice discount.

Call it what you want but the data speaks for itself. With sales sub 1K, I would have to disagree that the fair value of this book is $1100. I'm not trying to thread but if this such a screaming good deal, the hawks on this site would have gobbled it up in less than 15 min. ASM 129 is a solid book don't get me wrong...but you have to factor in the costs and time to get it reholdered...that's at least $50 and a few weeks.

I don't think you should have to defend your price in your own thread.

haha - I agree it's not a screaming good deal, but a 'good discount' IMO none the less. I was really looking for someone that wanted to hold the book, not a hawk. If I wanted a hawk, I completely agree, it would need to be discounted far more. ;)

$1100 is a fair price and probably achievable. $950 is a good price for a collector looking to get a copy "right now". It's not, however, "priced to sell".

I don't think anyone is trying to pick on you, btw, just trying to explain why there seems to be resistance, and that you shouldn't be discouraged.

...but you'll either have to be patient, or you may need to lower you price if you need to move it fast. Also, keep in mind, if you sell it here you aren't paying fees and the buyers know that and most expect to have that favor them rather than the seller.

+1

Seller can ask whatever price he wants for his book. If you guys don't like it, just move on and don't buy the book. Period.

Not only that...when you quote GPA and then don't use the data to back up your assertion, some consider it bad taste. Believe you me, I am speaking from experience!

I do agree with Steve that you shouldn't have to defend your price. Unfortunately you'll just see your thread shuffle to the bottom...happens often. Don't get discouraged!

I thought I was using the data to back up my assertion? - I said I was 95% sure that 4/15 sale wasn't valid - so looking at the other books, the average is still over $1k, which I stated earlier. Throw in white pages and it's not a screaming deal, but a nice discount IMO for someone looking to pick this book up.

All that being said, I appreciate all the help I receive on these boards. Probably the BEST message board I've ever been on. I know sellers think their books are worth more than they are and buyers think they are worth less - hence, that's why we all love GPA, right?
