too bad if they didnt use the classic cover but still.... these books are must haves!!!!!!!!!!!! :censored:

lol We continued to cross-post for the excitement…

They used the cover to Amazing #135, well… that’s not bad at all. They probably thought it included more characters, and thus made more sense. I always thought is’s more cool than the cover to #129, BTW.

This thread is amazing for this exact reason.... lol I cant think of another thread here on the boards where new almost unknown info is dug up, shared and disseminated out to the foreign collecting hordes.... of course I am biased but still..... lol

Thanks for the research Claudio.... you are a invaluable member of this community! :foryou:

Im telling you one thing for :censored: sure... if a 129 variant exists in Japanese Chesperito, Liaton, Solorcadet and I are gonna sheeeeeet our pants..... lol

Its gonna be a smelly day the day that scan is found...... :roflmao:

No..it doesn't..I have held those issues in my hands, in Japan...the 129 has another cover...I remember this from like three years ago....there was a time when I was furiously looking for ASM 300, when I came across these...it wasn't my thing. I also remember finding a Spiderman book from 1969 and another from 1970, with super random as$ covers..thick, very thick books, and big

Yea its sad when they dont use the classic cover... the French one comes to mind on this as well... :sorry: I agree that the cover for Punnys second app is still pretty cool though.... 2c

Yes...sometimes its cool, but sometimes it isn't, sometimes its mixed. The Brazilian ASM 300 cover is a made up cover, that upset me, but at the same time, the made up cover is incredibly awesome..like super badas$...but it just doesnt look right next to the other 300s. Also, there is no German ASM 300 cover... :(:(:(:( There is some countries that should have had it, but didnt..the Canadian one reprinted the 301, instead of the 300.. :( and there are other sad Non-300 stories that I would not like to get into...but I am happy to have found that Philippino one..I stil cant believe it.... :cloud9:

To be honest, I did not think much about covers when I read our editions as a kid.

I mean that I loved some covers, even if they were reproduced in the insides (as they did 95% of the time when the character was a backup feature).

I mean that the cover of a great issue is not always necessary great, and vice-versa.

For Hulk #181 they did not even use the cover on the insides, IIRC. Hulk was a backup feature on the italian Spider-Man by that time, and they just published the story. And honestly, although it is quite nice it’s not one of the best Trimpe covers.

There is also to say that covers which were never presented originally have been often used in recent reprints. That is the case of Fantastic Four #1, of which – finally – in the 2000s they made a special edition with the original cover. There is also a story about that, to which I am not sure if I have to give credit or not. It sounds like some "metropolitan legend".

Hey guys one of our own has some cool news on the foreign variant front! Our buddy Solorcadet is having his Superman #233 set showcased at the site collectingsuperman.com Check out Tony’s write up here…..

http://collectingsuperman.com/?p=1906

:applause:

I met Tony awhile back when someone told me that some crazy guy had listed his entire 227 Bats set on EBay? I was like what? Then checked out the auction and thankfully it didn’t sell. I knew anyone that had found a way to pick up the entire known 227 set at that time had to have the same screw loose as many of us…. :screwy:

I contacted Tony AKA Solorcadet and was immediately taken with his passion for this niche. We have since become friends, and man his sets continue to grow with amazing speed. Let me be the first to congragulate Tony in having a portion of his collection showcased at the collectingsuperman.com site! :applause::applause: (thumbs u
