Heck Avengers #37 alternate cover

Does anyone know the story behind this cover, and why it was nixed in favour of the Gil Kane cover?

And while we're on the subject, how did this piece go from a Lewis Wayne Ebay listing a few weeks ago (ended because the "item is no longer available") to appearing in the current Heritage auction? It appears in the printed Heritage catalog (which was prepared and printed more than a few weeks ago), so I'm not clear on how it could have been listed on Ebay if it was scheduled to appear in the Heritage auction.

Thx

Yea, they've been moving a few pieces over there recently. There was a Transformers cover that was moved as well to a more "buy it now" style auction as well if I remember correctly. Lewis Wayne seems to be wanting to move pieces as I just acquired a Tick piece that had been listed as a BIN on eBay to an auction.

OK, that makes sense, but it doesn't explain why they'd still have it listed on Ebay when it had already been moved to HA. Unless they just forgot to end the Ebay listing. Or perhaps they kept the listing going on Ebay in the hopes that someone might still pull the trigger on the BIN price, in which case they'd cancel the auction on Heritage. If the last scenario is true, I can't image that Heritage would be pleased by the last-minute cancellation, since the listing would have already been printed in their catalog.

Oh well. Whatever the case, it's a nice piece.

Well, technically Lewis Wayne is not Heritage. Lewis Wayne is the collection of one of the owners of Heritage, so it's easy to move things back and forth, but they are technically separate entities.
