That's great news - although, they're not giving resale people much time to plan for travel if they don't know whether they've got badges until "sometime in June." I'm really hoping to be able to get a buddy a badge, and may try to enlist some help if anyone is willing.

I wonder if people canceled their badges due to the fact they could not get a hotel room?

I am willing to accept that a few people may have done this. There is also a decent amount of people who grab a pass (just to make sure they have the option of attending) and then budget the trip out and realize it is going to be expensive and back out. Since it is hard(near impossible) to sell off your ticket, getting a refund is the easiest way to get money back if you decide you cannot attend.

the forum i run is hosting an closed area just for people trying to work together for badges. create a user & post in this http://www.friendsofcci.com/forum/index.php?topic=1286.120 thread to be added to the closed area. you'll need to find people to work with but everyone is there for the same thing.

Update:

Tony Daniel is doing a pre-show list for his 11x17 commissions (Full figure and waist up.) He posted about it on his FB. You have to send him a message and he will reply with pricing and details.

His commissions lately have been nothing short of amazing. He has started to do a lot of tonal work and shading with copics.

He will be in attendance Preview night through Saturday. He will also have some 12x14 pre-done sketches available and will do a few sketches at the show.

Co-worker of mine has a timeshare availability during the Con for anyone who is looking for a place to stay.

Not sure if there would be a better place for this. It's WorldMark San Diego - Balboa Park,1110 A Street.

I stayed in the Balboa Park area during SDCC last year. You can get to the con via a combo of walking/bus. However it's about a twenty minute commute each way and if you're a night owl, you'll want to make sure not to miss the last bus.

Based on my experience last year, I'm planning on always staying within walking distance of the convention center going forward.

I don't suppose anyone has heard anything about a possible resale now that the refund deadline has passed?

This just in...

Comic-Con is happy to announce a badge resale will open sometime in June 2013. If you have a Comic-Con Member ID, you will be sent the resale date and time via email. To receive this email notification, please be sure to sign in to your Member ID account and confirm that you did not “opt-out” of email correspondence from Comic-Con International. This information is found in the “Change My Preferences/Unsubscribe” section once you have logged in. If you have selected to “opt-out” of email notifications from Comic-Con, you will not be notified when badges go on sale.

I completely understand why a person who'd never been to SD would want to go. But for me SD has become too much hassle. Hard to get a ticket, hard to get a room in Gaslamp .... and then it's ungodly crowded when you get there. I've decided to skip it this year, even though I have a ticket.

Man - for those of us still trying to get one for a friend or something - that's so hard to hear haha

I understand that completely. A pain in the to get a ticket AND a hotel, and then the crowds, and lines that are so long that there is no way I'd wait in them and therefore I miss the better panels. However..... I'm still putting up with all of that and attending SDCC for the 21st year in a row this year, 'cuz really, there is no place like THE Con!

Comic-Con 2013 Badge Resale Drawing‏

Comic-Con International is pleased to announce that because of returned/cancelled badges we will once again be able to offer those badges for resale. This year we have also reduced the allotment of reserved badges for certain departments. Comic-Con has decided to add these badges to the resale for our attendees. We currently have several thousand single day badges available for resale, only 3,100 of which are Saturday badges. 4-Day badges are sold out.

Due to the very limited number of badges available and our vendor EPIC Registration being focused on coordinating onsite registration, the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale will be conducted utilizing a random drawing.

To enter the Comic-Con 2013 Resale Drawing, login to your Member ID account now and click the blue notice that says “Click Here to Enter a Drawing to be Eligible for the Comic-Con 2013 Badge Resale!”

The drawing entry period will remain open for 48 hours only, and will close June 12, 2013 at 10:59:59 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Late entries will not be accepted.

You must have a valid and confirmed Comic-Con Member ID to enter the drawing.

Anyone who has already registered for or purchased a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge will not be eligible to enter the drawing.

Those selected to participate in the Comic-Con 2013 badge resale may purchase their own badges, as well as badges for one additional guest. You may purchase for any guest who has a confirmed Member ID (as of June 7, 2013) and does not have a 4-Day badge (with or without Preview Night) or a single day Saturday badge. Your guest does not need to be selected from the drawing pool to be eligible to purchase.

Comic-Con will notify everyone who is selected to participate by email on or before June 17, 2013.

Sincerely,

Attendee Registration

Comic-Con International
