Ran into this guy on my way to a t-shirt booth. Closest I ever got to him. Wanted to take a pic with him but they escorted him away.

Ben congrats on the pick up but too bad you had to shed the MMC#9 to get it.
Yup it's a timely favorite of mine as you know but financially would have not been smart to keep. I'll get it back.

Id have to agree with Ben on this one. I would done the same

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Comic-Con this year. Spent a lot of time hangin' with boardies and meeting many others I only knew as forum monikers. There were so many folks who made this show memorable that no way will I be able work them all into this post, but I'll try. There was New Force's docile Gator, the always laid-back MrBedrock and I can't leave out their wonderful wives, who were just the kewlist. Also, there was brother Brian and the Bunky boys, Frank, Vince & Rob, the movers and shakers from Metro, Vintage Roy & youthful Lou, the ever-effervescent John Verzyl, along with his extended family at their Heavanly booth, Heritage's Steve Borock, one of the friendliest guys around, jovial Dale Roberts with 17 herbs and spices of finger lickin' good comics (sadly, I was unable to get back to on Sunday before show break-down; that's my bad), the marvelous Matt Nelson of Restoman fame, the glamour girls at the Penguin booth, Chuck, the illustrated man.

...The list goes on and on. (worship)

I rarely attend panels at SDCC because of the lines and shiny objects which distract me in the dealers hall, but I love browsing the booths, visiting with friends and after hours parties and dining.

IMO, Comic-Con is the perfect mixture of media and comic culture, occasional mayhem notwithstanding. Folks may grumble about the size of the Con, the focus on Hollywood stars, the crowded aisles jammed with folks posing in costume for photos and mobs of ravenous amateur pappirazi taking them, but part of what makes this the geek Mecca of the comic universe is having access to such a large potential customer base over four straight days. There are so many dealers with great books to peruse here that collectors with $$$ rarely go home without some long sought after collectible. There's a lot to be said for other, smaller shows, but some collectors travel long distances to attend SDCC and make no other shows during the year.

OK, I'll shut-up now and list my SDCC pick-ups...

Captain America #14 (8.5)

Miss Fury #3 (6.5) gift for my wife, a Tarpe Mills fan

Plus...

Air Fighters #2 (Church copy)

Daring Mystery #5 (8.0)

Donato Giancola oil painting of Cap

To be delivered after we return home.

There are books that I can't discuss yet because negotiations are still being worked out, but this SDCC was a winner all the way from my POV. :whee:

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Love that bat hoodie.

So who mussed up the Gator's hair while he was nodding off?

Or is this just his new look since he kicked the mullet to the curb?

Mousse and squirrel. (shrug)

That may be the best pun ever.
