I'm sick of fighting with you guys.

I'm simply going to go away...

You win.

Sounds good to me. Go ahead and take your shiz elsewhere but don't worry we know where to find you if we need an overpriced "special edition" or feel the need to just throw some bucks down the toilet, um, I mean your wallet.

quite the feisty thread.

To throw some "love me" in, I think I'd like to point out a few things.

I was the first one to post that I thought the phantom logo should change, (before everyone piled in, and it got some revisions). I also told Larry I thought he was making too many variants, (still think that), before that band wagon got rolling.

I agree with quite a few of Andy's points, and I dont like when people tell him to shut up, any more than when people tell ANYONE to shut up.

However, I do have to say this. I also have pointed out on several occasions that Larry is a business man, producing a product, and being 100% straight forward about it.

He is NOT hiding that fact that he produces it or his association with their production. He talks favourably about his OWN products, why on earth wouldnt he? He is working with creators and artists to make his product, so they also know exactly what is what. He also, from all my hearing of it, charges cover for most variants IN his store.

Online he charges what the market will bear. If there is no CORRUPTION, and we do in fact still live in a Capitalist FREE MARKET, what is the problem? Should he sell his variants, time, and work, for cover price to people on the board so THEY can instantly flip it on ebay for hundreds of percent profit? No one forces anyone to buy anything, we are all free. I only buy variants of 1st issues, key issues, or with covers I really like. If other people want twelve straight Revival variants, or six straight Bedlam variants, good on them.

If Larry floods the market with Phantom variants, and destroys their appeal/exclusivity then it will be because the consumers/market decide so. I guess I just dont like seeing anyone attacked to the point where they stop posting. It doesnt benefit anyone.

Obviously people are free to disagree and debate what Larry does. But, we dont need a facist or a communist comic market. If the man is being honest and open and about his relation to the product, let the product itself decide its value/worth.

I think him asking $60 for a variant is FAR better than some of the REEEEEEEEEEDICULOUS prices people try asking for in the Copper/Modern sales area, and on Ebay. And, when they do it, guess what, it doesnt sell. If $60 is too high, they just wont sell, and he'll have to lower the price. End of story.

Good post CBT!

Here are my thoughts...

Just like if you dont like Variants, dont buy them.....if you dont like Larrys posts, dont read them or at least give them any thought. Im not telling anyone to shut up, Im simply saying dont tell anyone else to shut up.

Personally I like what he brings to the table and he has taken very good care of me as a customer. He answers every question I have, gives me fair prices, packages very well and is very polite. He has even tossed a few freebies my way which was totally unexpected. I am not sure what more a business person can do. I realize he may rub some people the wrong way, I can be very similar at times, but again....just simply ignore him then. The rest of us will enjoy what he brings.

Not trying to pick a fight but merely sharing my .02 since this is a discussion board and all.

I find it funny that it's my post that pushed him over the edge considering it had nothing to do with how many variants he's producing or how much he's charging or anything around his business.

I just don't like smugness. I feel like all his posts should start out with a warning picture:

I understand, I wasnt picking any one post, or disputing any of them specifically. It was more the general, gang up and smash him until he leaves feel of the last few pages.

The "special" edition is ltd 400

Print less, charge more. (thumbs u

Zenescope's entire business model right there...

You forgot the part where they put soft-core porn on the front cover to distract from the lack of content (or quality) behind the cover.

I think it's in poor form for Larry to belittle his potential customer base with sometimes rude and often abrasive posts, but he seems to succeed in spite of it. Can't help but wonder, though, if his business might be much more successful if he could just table the attitude and treat everyone with a bit more respect.

Ok so it is 400 copies, but $60?

I know my book didn't have the fan base that bedlam has or do I have a name anywhere close to Spencer's but hell, tales had a single variant limited to 10 copies and it was sold for $10.

:gossip: and it didn't have a cover price like the regular version did :gossip: but Larry may not have had a choice with te price that was printed in the cover.

The Phantom is the only variant of #2 so far, right?

Yuuuup.

EVERYBODY abandoned this property en masse.

Except MY retailer group.

We're committed through #6

Who do you mean by everybody? 3 of the 6 variants for #1 were comic con exclusives. One is part of YOUR retailer group, but did their own variant as well. The other you traded phantoms with to get some unsigned copies of their variant.

Your ARROGANCE and EGO inflating posts are QUITE frustrating at TIMES.

EDIT: I changed the capitalization of the last sentence for you. You seem to like to randomly capitalize words.

I've been tempted to say that at times, but I've decided it was best that I just avoid his books altogether and not be influenced by his ramblings on these boards.
