Munsters fans, rejoice!

Thank God this died a swift death. :whee:

These aren’t your daddy’s “Munsters.” We told you a few months back that NBC was reviving the classic 1960s sitcom about a family of horror-movie monsters and turning it into a dark drama called “Mockingbird Lane.” But in the wake of creative differences between the network and creator Bryan Fuller, NBC has decided to scrap the series and turn the $10 million pilot into a stand-alone Halloween special, airing October 26 at 8 PM.

Here’s your first look at the “Mockingbird Lane” cast in character: Jerry O’Connell (“Sliders”) as dad Herman; Portia de Rossi (“Arrested Development”) as mom Lily; Eddie Izzard (“The Riches”) as vampire Grandpa; Mason Cook (“Spy Kids in 4D”) as werewolf son Eddie; and British newcomer Charity Wakefield as “plain” cousin Marilyn. And as you can see, they look a lot different than the original “Munsters” (inset): much more naturalistic, without a hint of the old-school movie-monster makeup. Honestly, we wouldn’t even know O’Connell was playing Herman if you hadn’t told us. (Though he does have a pretty nasty neck scar, as you'll see in the following photos.) And an Eddie Munster without a widow’s peak? Blasphemy!

Anyway, click through this gallery to see more photos of the new-look Munsters from “Mockingbird Lane.”

And The Munsters would kick The Addam's Family's butts in a street brawl.

No way dude. Cousin It would break out the chain saw and it would be all over.

Herman Munster could kick The whole Addams family's butt by himself. When he fllies into a rage it's all over.

Though Lurch might even those odds a bit, the difference maker and deal closer is, clearly, Spot. :flamed:

Now it's all over.

EDIT: And this would have sucked moldy lemons.
