Essential Batman reading list -- recommendations needed

12 posts in this topic

I have a hankering to read some good Batman stories and I'm looking for recommendations for a reading list. I have Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader, and Batman Earth One.

What else should I seek out? For the sake of simplicity, let's limit suggestions to post-Crisis trades or hardcovers.

The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder current Batman writer who is excellent and Batman R.I.P by Grant Morrison.

Should I read Morrison all the way through the Return of Bruce Wayne or stop after R.I.P?

You'd need to read a lot before you got to RIP to fully 'understand' it, and I wouldn't bother with anything after it except Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader, which you already have. I'll add more info later, on my way to work now.
