Sweaty palms ruining comics

44 posts in this topic

Anyone have problems with sweaty palms damaging their comics? My biggest problem is going to the shop and picking out comics. When I hold onto a comic long enough, my palms start to sweat and it ruins the comic. I've considered wearing latex gloves into the shop but then I'd look like a murderer. I've asked about handcarts, but my shop doesn't offer them.

Anyone else have this problem? What measures have you taken to remedy it?

You're confusing your local porn shop with the comic emporium.

Don't sweat it though - many people on these very forums do exactly the same thing.

I don't have this problem as I am calm, cool and collected when I'm reading my books in the washroom.

Magnesium is your friend.

Screw That...I remember this one time at camp Magnesium was like "You should go talk to Becky, she likes you." and the next day I catch him playing Tonsil Hockey with Becky behind the Kayak boat house.

So Eff Magnesium, He's nobody's friend.

You need to approach this like a 1st date, to avoid any premature accidents crack one out of the barrel before you go out ;)

Such sage advice.

The problem is the crappy stock they've been using on covers lately. Some of the Marvel covers are so bad that they'll completely shrivel by the time I'm done reading.

My trick when picking up books on a Wednesday is to place a cheap book, or one I don't care about being a 9.8, on the bottom of my stack so it's the only one that's coming into contact with my hands.

I use a similar trick. I take a comic I don't care about and put the ones I do inside of it, so that I am holding onto the front and back cover of the book I don't care too much about, until I get them to the counter.

Good suggestion. I actually used a copy of comic shop news today and put my comics inside that. It worked out pretty well, though the csn ended up wrinkling with sweat on one side.
