Thunderbolts any good?

I was thinking of picking up some Thunderbolts issues from the first series. I think the writer is Fabian Nicieza. Is the Thunderbolts a good read? Which issues are the best?

I liked the first 20 or so issues while the idea was still original and it hadn't yet turned into a cliche book.

The original gimmick was really good, but the entire concept was only good enough as a limited series of two dozen or so issues. Or maybe better as an entended storyline within an existing title like Avengers. But, what do I know..quit reading around issue #30..there's better ways to spend my money.
