Iron Fist #14 CGC 9.4 @ $305 & 13 bids. :o
That book is always hot on ebay as long as it is not start priced at $6K-$10K for a 6.0 lol .

Actually I believe there has been an uptick in the prices lately. If you look at GPA you could sometimes get this at $250 a year or two ago but it seems like its been a solid $300+ book this year. hm

Speculators are crazy for Groot

Speculators are crazy, we can agree there. You can get a Strange Tales #110 in pretty much the same condition for that price. And besides being infinitely more important and popular than Groot, Dr. Strange is also getting his own movie. So...? :screwy:

I agree with you, but I think its harder to find a nice TTA 13, than a ST 110.

I have a couple of ST 110, I dont have TTA 13 and I have been looking long before any movie hype.

Tales to Astonish #13 @ $371+ & 15 bids. 1st Groot? hm

Good gosh, that TTA#13 went for over $800.

What the heck?

(shrug)

Movie hype + speculators + suckers + questionable seller = $$$.

Also, you guys might want to read the following threads.

This one explains that the seller buys from known scammers who crack PLODS.

And this is is monumental and needs no introduction.

It's an epidemic. Remember the days when people just sold funny books to sell them? Sigh. :|

The bump on WMD #6 is nutty. Makes me tempted to sell my copy even though I only have 1. The Astonishing Tales MSH #18 reprint hasn't even gone up that much.

Two things to keep in mind though: 1) This is a high grade copy and 2) JSComics is the seller. They have a large following and routinely have no problem getting guide or above for books that might otherwise languish.

The Groot story is also in the Monster Masterworks trade paperback from 1989.

I imagine that by successfully branding GOTG as part of the filmic Marvel Universe, it's almost guaranteed to do reasonably well at the box office, but I can't help feeling that this is not a franchise in the making, and that the various books that have seen a huge rise due to the movie hype are going to be dropping rapidly in value once the movie has had it's run if not before.
