"Well, consider this a small bone. Marvel’s David Gabriel announced that four Omnibus books at least, which have been so out of print they regularly sell for hundreds of dollars above their cover price, will be reprinted.

 

Uncanny X-Men Vol 1, Fantastic Four Vol 1, Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 and Frank Miller’s Daredevil Vol 1.

 

These will start to appear in the June previews. Those omnis of our fringe characters and events won’t yet be going back to press as in many if not most cases these were hard sells to begin with. But I never say never…"

 

I need Vol 2 of FF dangit, but I'll take the Uncanny and shut up.

It's great news, in any case. Looking forward to picking a few of these up. And if the New X Men omnibus reprint last year is anything to go by, it should lead to first prints dropping in price too...

Great news. I need ASM Volume 1. All for these hardcovers being made available for everyone to enjoy at more reasonable prices. :)

well Im excited that I can finally get the Uncanny Omnibus (and hopefully it will be well produced) and the FF #1 (hopefully with a good bind).

 

Erndog (and anyone else who bought over retail for OOP volumes):

I'll be very curious to see what the production quality is. Some volumes have been very nice (Simonson Thor, 1st printing of Amazing Spider-Man) others have been less nice... recent Omnibuses have used thinner paperstock, thinner cardstock covers, and done a lesser sewn/glued hybrid bind that is not as flexible or easy to read.

 

If the new version are lesser products you'll see Shelfporn collectors still hunting after those better produced editions.

 

I sold my ASM on ebay to pay some bills, but Im also left rolling the dice if I re-buy that the next version will be as nicely produced as the one I let go.

Sounds like ones like Alias, Howard the Duck and other "fringe" volumes will stay out of print for a while.
