April sales numbers are out

http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2013/2013-04.html

Encouraging signs for some of the new titles launch in March as their issue 2 didn't drop too much. So, according to CBT's theory, these titles should see a price bump somewhere down the road.

East of West:

49,518

41,838

Five Ghosts

13,163

13,127

Helheim

11,877

10,256

Titles that keep on descending are Bedlam, Clone, Great Pacific, Mind the Gap etc. Blackacre has dropped out of the top 300.

New titles that are stabilizing include black beetle, todd etc. These titles seem to have a real fan base and might be worth buying more copies now.

Discuss away! :blahblah:

It's interesting to see that the $1 reprint of Mind MGMT #1 sold 9,926 copies while issue 10 only sold 5,842. I would think if people liked the first issue you will start to see an increase in sales for the subsequent issues and higher demand for the earlier non #1 issues.

just so the OP and everyone else knows, comicchron does not originate this data, though they do post it:

http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3/597?articleID=134436

diamond releases a top 100 and top 300. The top 300 you need a diamond account to see. The numbers are released "indexed" to batman, on a 100 point scale.

comichron just applies an estimating function that turns that to a "number of issues" which is a decent estimate, but is never EVER 100% correct.

Also:

icv2 usually posts it before comicchron, though they generally hit at the same time.

As for the comics in question, those are GREAT numbers for second issue sales. Obviously, those are all speculator loved books, but it does show continued faith in the titles.

Bedlam actually had really strong issue #2 sales, before tanking on issue 3. It's definitely worth watching, but it looks like East of West demand is going to be staying strong for the forseeable future.

The question now is, who is holding the supply, is it people looking to sell and will keep the supply high on ebay, or does it start to thin out as people hold or collect.

$1 vs. $4.

Assuming all copies sold at cover price (which they obviously didn't), the reprint sold $9926, while issue 10 sold $23309.

I realize that from a monetary perspective the most recent issue made the most money for the company but if you are just looking at units and ignoring the financials I would think this bodes well for the series going forward. Since twice as many people have now read the first issue compared to the most current.

Is there any general ratio of what number these image first type books, I know this one is Darkhorse, typically sell compared to the most recent issue?

Great news for all. I believe when you take into account that East of West 1 had variant covers in the mix it is even better than it looks on paper. I haven't seen variants for number 2. Five Ghosts is unbelievably stable and deservedly so. Is Helheim still a mini ?

I am very suprised by Bedlam staying on a downward path. I was hoping for an uptick.
