Date Stamp Want List?

HarveySwick January 15 1979 // Daredevil #158 Jan 1979

Daredevil #158 was released on Jan 30, 1979. So that would not have your birthday as a stamp. Not that many comics were being stamped around this time frame. Date stamps seemed to have dropped off later in the 70s.

I'd love an August 12, 1965 stamp on anything. Preferably heroes, but anything reasonable. Also, I was looking for my own stuff when I found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOURNEY-INTO-MYSTERY-Annual-1-THOR-1st-HERCULES-72-Big-Pages-1965-/261299743824?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3cd6adac50

It has a date of June 22, 1965, which I believe was the exact date someone was looking for a few pages (and a few months ago).

I figured. Just would be really cool if I came across one that just said "Jan 1979." I know it's highly doubtful and probably doesn't exist, but just figured I'd add it to the list.

Should I remove my name from the want list? (shrug)

Why would you remove your name? ???

I only said that to prevent you for searching for the Daredevil comic, since it was released after your birthday. Some comics were released on the 9th of that month, searching those covers may turn up something with a date stamp.

Cool idea! I'd not mind find one with a date stamp - Oct 25, 1968.

Can be on Marvel, DC, Disney or Archie book.

Full date or just month/year.

Would like find one with Fantastic Four or Archie cover (if possible).

Thanks

looking for september 7, would prefer 1972 the year but open to any, prefer spidey but any marvel/dc would also do

thanks!

They aren't from 1972, but I have a September 6. And a September 8.

But... September 7?

:sorry:

lol just my luck. a few months ago I saw an ASM 42 September 6th. So sad it wasn't the 7th.

I have a Sep 7th Thor in a PGX case, I would get it regraded for CGC but the grade date is September 7th also ( so kinda feel like leaving it alone).

Thanks though

I have an Avengers #4 . It just has 1230 on the cover. With no year on it. According to what I am seeing at the marvel wiki it lists the date as March 1964 of when it came out.

http://marvel.wikia.com/Avengers_Vol_1_4

So is it possible it was released earlier , but it was the March 1964 issue ? Or is the date stamp on the cover possibly unrelated to the release ? The stamp is bigger than a normal date stamp .

You can see it here .

the stamp is under the VEN of Avengers and above the AIN in Captain. I dont have a better picture right now and the book is up at my booth/shop.

It was common practice back in the day to have a cover date months ahead of the actual release date. The publishers figured newsstands would leave the comics out for much longer because they would get fooled by the fake cover date.

Mike's Newsstand lists the estimated release date for Avengers #4 as January 3, so I am guessing it did actually come out on December 30.

I thought the reasons was different… hm

BTW, aren’t they still doing it. I just picked a Ms. Marvel #1 and the cover date is ahead of time (don’t recall precisely how much).
