I picked up many of my HG PH books from previous highest registry set owners. My first posting on this thread was in May of 2011, almost 10 years now. The big dogs then were, Cheetah, Turtleboy23, Tsimanga and Korvac Saga. Bronty, Marvel runs, Rosland and myself followed up years later when these guys sold off most of their collections through auctions and personal sales. Also, long time collectors and contributors to this thread such as Mysterio, Kirbyjack, Adamstrange, DRX and Jimjum12 still remain on this thread today. Some of the old names we have not heard from in along time: AtlasFan (sold his collection), tr moore54, crimson dynamo, silver surfer, HaydenTo, zzutak and others I cannot recall were heavy contributors to discussions back then. Lots of great early contributors there! Remember when you posted a bunch of your books back in late 2013/early 2014 I lurked in this thread from its inception. Always had an interest in these books, but lived vicariously through the original posters until 2009 when I decided to focus and complete a full set. Didn't start regularly posting until 2014 myself. Rosland & zzutak pop in every now and then. Glad B.A.F. is back Of course Pontoon always has some treats as well. Your post made me go back and check out some of the earlier ones in this thread- just some crazy books shown back then! Don't see many of those 9.x+ displayed any more. We did pick up some new blood with Sweet Lou, Frisco Larson, Mucheee1 & Jasonmorris1000000 (sorry if I missed anyone else). Popular Post Sweet Lou 14
A couple of purchases this week -- one that fills in a gap in my TOS run and one really big one that allows me to say I have the very earliest book in the collection I'm trying to build. That is not to say I don't already own a book or two that's older, but simply that when I think about my core collecting goals, this book is the foundation. bc, KirbyJack, *Bronze age fan* and 6 others

Jasonmorris1000000
I love the Strange Tales #1 posts. Thanks. I’ve wanted a copy ever since I was a boy and had a small black and white photo of the cover in a Strange Tales index from the 1980’s. bc, mysterio and KirbyJack

I miss seeing Bronty around here. I believe he transitioned more towards original art (guess nice pre-hero wasn't rare or difficult enough for him ) I picked up a few books from him as well, like the TOS #3 I posted a few pages ago. Great guy. trmoore54 still pops up very occasionally, zzutak I only see in occasional sales threads he runs that I try not to miss. Last thing I remember about Cheetah was his advice to always store a chainsaw near your comic collection. I am not on the boards nearly as much as I used to be. When I first started about 80% of my online time was here, but that has become less and less recently. Now when I do come by I mainly come in here and check the Comic Events thread. This is still one of my favorite threads and I love seeing the books everyone posts. KirbyJack, Mucheee1, jayhawker and 3 others
Popular Post cheetah
I really enjoyed my Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish. I'm not sure if I realized how special they were until much later. I sold them all to a fellow collector who really loved them, too, but who never shared anything on the board. Kind of a shame given the quality of books he had/has. I got my best ones from a single collection out of Covington, KY. The story was a small shop had closed down in the early 1960s and the owner had taken all the comics and put them into storage. They had never been read and were probably only touched 2-3 times before I got them. There were a crazy number of highest graded copies at that time. Popular Post Sauce Dog
My absolute favourite pre-hero Marvel. This cover has lived rent free in my head ever since seeing it as a kid, and I always wanted to get it super high grade but only finally bought this one last year, choosing it over a few 8.0 and 8.5 copies that honestly looked awful. It was one of the clearest examples I can remember of 'buy the book, not the grade' being painfully obvious when comparing options. I do hope to track down a higher grade copy one day and upgrade it (would love a 9.0, if anyone has leads let me know!)
