The Magical Kingdom of the Spawn 9 Newsstand Edition Redux!

Sorry... but if you were expecting another kind of "threesome", I knew this would be the perfect set-up to get you titillated and excited. But this isn't that kind of "threesome".

 

Instead, I am going to tell you I am at it again... buying more graded copies of the same comic for God knows what purpose: probably to satiate my pathological and tyrannical nature. I really don't need to do this, but some uncontrollable impulse from deep within my dark nature takes over and makes me do what I must do... buying comics I don't need. Can anyone relate?

 

What the hell am I talking' about? Well, I bought another copy of Spawn 9, featuring the 1st Appearance of Angela, in the hard to find Newsstand Edition. Why? I really don't know. I guess you can call it a selfish desire to corner a small niche market and call it all my own. Maybe when I was a child, someone stole all my toys and this is my adult psyche trying to compensate for it. Maybe? But probably not.

 

Meanwhile... Angela is kicking in the Marvel Universe. Her debut in Age of Ultron 10 and Guardians of the Galaxy 5 is a positive omen of things to come. If Angela's popularity continues to soar, I predict she'll get a title of her own and more than likely will make a screen debut within the next three years. And why not? With Ultron announced as the main villain in the Avengers 2, and the GOTG film coming out sometime next year, it will be just a matter of time before the time-lost bounty hunter is written into a Marvel film. And I could see the heavenly redhead in some dynamic clashes with Marvel's greatest heroes and villains... but what better adversary than the Odinson himself: the Mighty Thor. Angel vs. Godson! Now that would be some kinda throwdown.

 

And I speculate Angela would be called in to take on a really big threat, like Thanos or something, which could eventually lead to Adam Warlock making his screen debut. But I am really getting ahead of myself.

 

So this is my third copy of Spawn #9 Newsstand Edition. Currently, there are 6 graded Newsstand Editions in the CGC Census Population, of which I own half. On the other side, there are 496 Direct Editions, which makes my Kingdom of Newsstand Editions a minority population represented in just 0.01% of the overall total population. That is a very, very small percentage, which obviously makes a graded Newsstand Edition a very rare comic to come by.

 

And, hopefully in the near future, CGC will grade a fourth Newsstand Edition I submitted back in late June.

Extremely rare. I mean I'm a young fit guy but that's some next level game you have to be able to talk or some serious money.... wait not that kind? Oh gotcha.

 

Absolutely amazing though. Currently have one that I am waiting to have signed by Todd at the Fan Expo next week followed by my first experience with smooshing by CCS then finally on to grading. I was told it looks really close but I'm hoping the Pressing takes the close out and ensures it. I have a couple copies going along the same sign and press route as well but I'll hold onto those names until I get the grades back for them as they will hopefully be OAK's for there respective Set.

 

Anyways, you always know how to bring a guy in to read a journal and look forward to more.

Believe it or not, I came very close to having one but I was married at the time so I followed my heart. But now that I am divorced I always think "That could have been some special evening!"

 

Anyway... now I am very jealous... You're going to get your's signed by TM! Damn you! You'll have dominion over the Kingdom. This means WAR!

 

But seriously... so cool. Can't wait to see how your copies turn up. Please post pics and a journal when they come through. And then our Kingdoms will have a summit and discuss the destruction of the other enemy kingdoms! Muh ha ha ha ha!

Since the last time you posted about the newsstand and sent me one of your direct editions, I have purchased a raw direct edition and will probably send it to dwc for the private signing with Todd. But no one can touch you having half of the newsstands.

So glad to hear you're going to have one of your very own, and signed no less.

 

It think my Kingdom will soon be underseiged with all these Signed editions coming soon. And the other day, I was talking to a fellow collector, who managed to locate a stack of newsstand editions which he's going to submit to CGC. My dark reign will finally come to an end.

 

I was thinking of getting a sig done through Desert Winds, but I want it to be Neil Gaiman's signature over Todd's. But I understand NG's a lot tougher to get. So I am hoping to find a high grade raw, and hold on to it for NG's appearance at a Con (if it ever happens)... and I'll shake the man's hand and thank him for all his writing brilliance (novels and comics).

The CGC collection has taken the summer off apparently, I haven't purchased any new slabs since May. I haven't really seen anything lately but sometimes that's a good thing.

I've been pretty good. Found the Signature Series forum and ohhhh did I fall in love. As for me I was able to get a few things raw for the upcoming Wizard World Austin for both Neal Adams and Dennis O'neil to sign. As well as a few things for Stan to sign as long as his health holds out. Also got a few commissions to pick-up for some blank sketch art.

 

I have picked up a graded 9.0 Batman 251 for Adams to sign as well and found a really good looking 232 which was one of my top 5's. Currently bidding on a few Giant Size X-Men's but prices shot up quick for 9.0 - 9.4's in the past few auctions. Who knows maybe I'll get lucky with the comiclink ones or the current ebay listing.

Well for new developments I'm awaiting my SDCC order which should be back in soon and I can share with all you guys. Music wise, I picked up the new IWABO(Iwrestledabearonce) album. Probably a little too extreme for most. I wish it was regular season football already. I can't wait... GO SKINS!
