I feel like I totally messed this thing up. Again....Techie put up my offer so that the offer would be ready to go when the thread rolled out. We did not want to roll out the thread and it just sit there with nothing in it. That was my fault and my idea not techies. I should have just posted it myself and if there was waiting there was waiting. That being said, a few of you would have found something else to complain about regardless of how it was done.

 

Nah, I think anyone who is actually interested in the thread was fine with it. It's really a non-issue.

It's a "cosmic balance" sort of thing. Once one notices the patterns, the boards are far easier to navigate.

In any event, in about 15 minutes CAHokie can accept or decline the trade offer that was made towards his. If he doesn't want the x-book sean proposed, anyone can setup step up to take a shot at making a new Trade.

 

The nice thing here, as someone pointed out, is that people can see things that members have in their collection and are looking to trade/sell, and maybe haven't gotten around to posting in the marketplace, and make offers privately if they want. So that's cool. Looking forward to seeing more comic porn posted.

 

Thanks to everyone who has supported and to helped flesh out the idea. If there needs to be tweaks to the thread, as with any concept, we can work it out as we go along.

I brought up the rules violation because it was worth bringing up. But never did I ascribe venom to my action. All intent was placed upon me before I got a second word out.

 

I was called a troll, a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed and told to STFU in short order.

 

And you guys want to work out more rules for why the first trade sits fallow.

There is no such thing as a sucky offer in a trade thread! You never know who will like what. Not to mention they are all 9.8's so even if they are not on fire, I see people wanting them.

I don't think we need to invite opinions on open offers, as that can open a can of worms. You're under no obligations; if 24 hours goes by without a trade offer, that's that.

 

 

I wonder if we should keep some sort of tally of all unaccepted offers from the trade block. We can keep the list in one post for anyone to reference in case someone wants to privately contact a member with a trade proposal. Only names and trade items from members on the trade block goes on the list (if they want it there).

You're right: the rule was broken in the first post. There was a reason for that, which has been explained. You might think it's a good enough reason, or you might not. Fair enough either way. Personally I don't think it's trolling for you to point it out in a discussion thread, but surely by now we've said everything there is to say on the subject?

 

This trading thread has ONLY JUST STARTED. For the sake of giving it a chance, can we stop discussing this point? It's creating what I think is unnecessary bad feeling (cf Park and Techtree).

Of course it's not trolling. It's the exact purpose of this thread. It's not always going to be sunshine and puppies in this thread. This is where you are allowed to question, criticize, cajole, commiserate, and occasionally, maybe, capitulate. This thread exists so that the trade thread stays clean. It doesn't exist for everyone to engage in effusive fanny rubbing and Kumbayah marathons.

 

So if you don't like someone's criticisms, counter them. But make no bones about it, all criticism BELONGS right here.

I'm glad the mods cleaned up that nonsense posted by ogami. I don't know why he would attempt to sink the thread right from the get go. It's a shame when a few miscreants try to ruin things for the rest of us.
