Finally managed to obtain this bronze age grail; would really appreciate your views on the possible grade.

Prettiest 8.5 of all time, I think the stains on the BC would keep it higher than that though.

 

Does the top stain affect the interior pages?

Thanks both. I hadn't noticed that on my first inspection (not as pronounced as on the scan). Just checked again and it doesn't affect any other pages.

 

What are thoughts on pressing? Would this be a good candidate?

It doesn't appear from the scan from the scan that a press is necessary. Great copy, glad the stain doesn't stand out so much in hand.

my initial thought was 9.0 but with the stain I think it gets 8.5 thats a relatively big defect IMO

8.5 to 9.0 nice book. Staining on back cover is too bad. Press and clean might help?

What is the stain anyways?

If it is a water stain It will affect the grade significantly. I could see it getting the book as low as a 6.0. I am not kidding. I had an otherwise flawless copy of Xmen 101 that came back a 6.0 for a much smaller stain.

Well, he did say it was subbed through CCS first. So, a press & cleaning helped, I am sure...

 

OP, do you have scans of the back now that it is slabbed?
