1940s Batman question, grading and restoration

Alright so I just purchased a batman #4, winter of 1940. I got it for 193 from a private owner and the front cover in the corner has an inch tear piece ripped out of it and the staples no longer connect to the inner pages but none of these flaws affect the inner pages and story of the book I believe. So my question is, should I send it to CGC? Knowing that it will get a .5 to at most 1.5 grading? Or should I get it restored somehow then send it in? I want to preserve it the best I can so it recieves no further damage and is treated with respect so I want to sent it into CGC or PGX to have graded and also so it can have the protective case. Thoughts, opinions? Thanks

Should I get it professionally restored? So it has a better grade even though it will get a purple slab?

I'm not a fan a restoration. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get it restored. I would wait to see what others say. I think a pic would help the thread out.

Assuming it is anywhere from a 0.5 to maybe a 1.8, it would be worth about $280 to $780 if graded by CGC.

 

I don't think it is worth restoring though.

 

A restored 3.0 goes for about $385 and a restored 3.5 goes for about $600...

You're mixing the descriptors a bit. Is it an actual piece out of the cover or is it an inch tear? A photo would be helpful if you can.

I just also learned that it is missing the centerfold but it doesn't affect the jokers story

so a big chunk of the top corner of the cover is gone and the centerfold...not sure its worth doing anything with...
