Nothing should mess with the beautiful simplicity and technical precision of John Romita's pencil work on those sketches. :luhv:

+1 on that -1

These are fully finished pencils....U NO TOUCH!!

Agreed, and the only one who should ink Romita is Romita. :sumo:

I love how this thread is going!

Lets get it started in a fun way today. I will share one of our favorites.

I gave Mr. Romita this cover for an example of Mysterio that I was requesting and I got this back...........

I hadn't seen that one before. Congratulations.

You know, there are very few (less than 5) sketchcovers that I'd consider "legendary" out of the hundreds and hundreds that I've seen. This is definitely one of them.

Is the subject relevant to the artist? Absolutely

Is the artist well-respected among his/her peers? Obviously

Is the quality of the art high? Without a doubt

Would it be easy to replicate this sketchcover? No

Does the book lend itself to the art? Yes

Does the art strike you as "inspired"? I'd say yes...this isn't just some random pose and he doesn't do recreations often.

Bonus points for the art being a recreation of the artist's original work.

These are some of my criteria for determining if a sketchcover is considered "legendary". Of course, this is a personal scale. YMMV

Great book!
