COMICLINK - The Final Countdown

Menace 11 (highest on census at 5.5!), one of those rare pre-code horror books that contains a first appearance of a character that survives today in the Marvel superhero universe.

Also, perhaps one of the most eye appealing covers of the entire Atlas era...and very difficult to find in any condition.

Surprised to see that Supes 1 cgc 1.8 back at Clink again.. It was sold a few months ago. I wonder what happened?

It's easy to have a new love or cash flow issues or in this hobby!!

True but because of the magnitude of the book, I would think the seller would hold on to it longer and know more about his cash flow before purchasing the book. Unless the buyer was not able to pay for it fully.

Who the hell are you?

A Comiclink employee because we don't get enough propaganda from the Auction houses these days.

I know greggy will be all over the Heritage Marvels so no need to bid at clink. :baiting:

I wish when you sent them an email about a back cover scan they would respond to you...who wants to spend that kind of money seeing only half of the book...

Tell me about it.

The last 3 Clink auctions I've requested a back cover scan and received no response. I've e-mailed right after the auction begins to give them enough time and a couple of days before it ends. Nothing.

I'm like you: for the kind of money you have to spend to win anything, I'd like to not have any unpleasant surprises.

But then again, the way things have been selling lately on Clink, I guess they really don't need my bid either.

I email before they even start. I think I might send one a day till I get a reply...maybe that would get them going.

I emailed for a bc scan, and got it 2 days later. Even got a phone call from Josh. :o

Probably had something to do with it being a 40k+ book though....

Haha most likely why...still for a book that is more than $1,000 you would think its worth the 10-20 mins to fin the book and scan it.

Crazy that bc scans aren't provided at the outset.

This.

CLINK has (so far) performed just fine with their model of:

  • out of date website design
  • no back cover scans
  • only moderately sized front cover scans
  • no ability to track scans beyond bidding
  • less than stable bidding platform
  • quirky auction time syncs with website

so they will NEVER be incentivized to improve their website when they continue to post market level auction results and plenty of bidders, leading to plenty of new auction listings/comissions. I do know they did some internal shoring up of their servers to try and address the asynchronous auction timings, and dropped bids (but those were having a direct effect on final bid realization).

I am glad I am not the only one. Sometimes I feel like I am bugging the out of them. I typically ask for 4-6 scan per auction and If I don't get a scan I usually don't bid.

Question. . .

I've never bid in one of these auctions, but I am watching one item. I know every item is different, but do these auctions typically get "hot" over the last few days? I'm asking because this book has 20+ bids on it, and I know there are people looking for a copy.
