PGM TALES OF SUSPENSE #45 Help please with detached staple issue!

TALES OF SUSPENSE #45. No restoration. Detached bottom center staple. Otherwise there's a very light crease lower right front cover; other flaws are evident. I'd like to get some opinions of this one both with and without the staple problem, so I can get an idea of how detached staples affect the grade in general. Any thoughts along that line much appreciated... Thanks!

7.0 that light crease is too long for me, with staple

I don't have much experience with detached staple, so can't give you any misleading grade.

I really enjoy your collection, very nice books and surprisingly all your Photos are freaken so sharp, just amazing.

I would agree, the corner crease would keep it in the 7.0/7.5 range otherwise, though it might be pressable. I'd still consider it about a 6.0 with the detached staple, or just give it a qualified grade. Some collectors really hate that sort of defect and others are happy to get a nice looking book at a discounted price. How much one deducts is going to be influenced by how the book would grade otherwise. A 9.6 book with detached staple is going to take a bigger deduction than a 2.5, which might be unaffected grade wise.

You might be able to re-attach the staple to the cf if you do it carefully, as it doesn't look ripped all the way through.

Wow. Thanks everyone. I'm going to have to call up CGC and talk to one of the reps about this "Qualified" business. Could make a big difference, seems like, and unfortunately I do have a few others that look 7.0 to 8.0 but with a blown staple.

Rjpb, I believe it is ripped through but I'll take another look.

Thanks, AhnDepTrai. I just use my little Nikon Coolpix, throw a couple of 150 watt bulbs on it and put it on "Macro" (closeup) mode, White Balance to Incandescent, with NO Flash. This may be common knowledge (I see some very nice pix on this site) but if anyone can use the info, there it is. (I would scan them but it's too much trouble.)

I just can't emphasize enough how helpful this is. Thanks a million, all.
