Oakman, I only ever had one interaction with the pest control specialist. Apparently my apartment/condo pays for pest control. Guy knocks on my door so I open up holding my cat. All the sudden my cat started hissing and spitting at the pest guy. Never saw him again. I am convinced my cat reacted that way because he was like "GO AWAY, I KILL BUGS HERE!!!"

I never seem to have the same UPS/FedEx carrier twice, but an X-Mas card with a nice bonus for the postal carrier is a must. Guessing others may have a similar situation as me, where you have a different postal carrier on Saturdays. Make sure to take care of them as well.

Same here - we've had the same USPS guy for a couple of years now and we tip him $40 every xmas. He delivers packages to our front door pretty much every single day, so I figured that's the least we can do :)

That time of the year again, folks.

Tipped my carrier and UPS guy today, will tip the P.O. guy who brings my packages the next time I see him.

I tip them when I can, but they are hard to catch sleeping. Don't attempt it when they are awake.

my dad is a mail man and although he never expects a gift of any kind, it always brings a smile to his face when people recognize the good job he does. Whether its a $100 or a hershey candy bar, it always nice to know people appreciate you...not to mention theyll remember you and go that extra mile taking care of your packages.

its not an easy job either btw...

I tip more than the regulations allow. I hope my letter carrier doesn't get in trouble :wishluck:

All postal employees, including carriers, must comply with the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch. Under these federal regulations, carriers are permitted to accept a gift worth $20 or less from a customer per occasion, such as Christmas.

Don't they just provide the "program" or deliver "programming" in the abstract? Postal carriers provide a concrete service, i.e., they deliver the goods--the hard copy. :sumo::baiting:

I'm a postman. Tips for us are pretty rare these days. I usually get between 5 and 10 every Christmas. I can say that I remember every tip and I'll do anything to keep a tipper happy.

Also consider tipping your garbage man. They work hard and they'll be a lot more likely to haul that big item away.

I tip the mailman and the sanitation guys every year. I usually make oreo balls and orgasm squares and leave them out for them to pick up along with something nice like I buy like some gourmet hot chocolate or something like that.

Couple of years ago the guys knocked on the door asking my wife how we made them so they could give the recipe to their wives.

This year I will add money as well after reading about so many here that do it.

Curiosity question...how do you tip the garbage guys? I'm never home when they come through but I'm pretty sure they just pick up the can with the truck so I don't want to leave anything on the can, they might not see it.

I never thought about tipping the mail man or garbage carriers. We have a good mail man who drops packages in hidden areas around our porch and then writes us notes dropping it in the mailbox to find them. lol

It saves us lots of time as we don’t have to go and pick it up at the post office. Our mail man is really good. On Monday I am going to give him $30 for his effort and a thank you card. I’m not sure if I should give him more or not…hmm. This thread is great!

Last year was the first year being a homeowner. I met the mail carrier. Nice enough guy so I made sure to leave him a Christmas card with a $20 tip.

The garbagemen.... meh They throw our garbage in the back of the truck and can't even place the garbage barrel or recycle bin on the ground. They just toss it. Oftentimes it's rolling around in the street. The recycle bin is really a head scratcher... it's a blue, square bucket. How they manage to just throw it in the street and can't just put it where it was is beyond me. I''ll tip them alright...

Tip: Don't in the wind. lol

Leave them a little something and I suspect you'll get a lot better service...
