This is one of my favourite LB covers, as sick as it sounds I love the pile of bodies they're standing on, so much detail.

Nice book! And I never noticed the bodies before till seeing your large scan, makes me like it even more! (thumbs u

Excellent cover!!! :cloud9:

One of top five L.B. Cole covers in my opinion!!!!

I'd like to find a nice copy too!!!! :wishluck:

Just curious, but what are the top five L.B. Cole covers from members of this board. There are so many that it would be hard to pick only five. So I decided to pick a top ten right off the top of my head (not in any order). Interested in hearing other views!!!

My top ten are;

Thrilling Crime 49

Blue Bolt 105

Catman 31

Mask 2

Terrors of the Jungle 17

Terrifying Tales 13

Contact 12

Catman 32

Captain Flight 11

Suspense 8

Many more great covers so I'm sure I've left a few out, but I think these are all gems, I'd like to hear other viewpoints!!! hm

Thanks very much! I think it would be hard to say since he did so many types of genres like crime, horror, sci-fi etc, one might be somewhat biased based towards their favourite genre to collect, just a thought, but they're all fantastic in my opinion..,... I'll try to come up with one....

Be tough to pick 5, but your list would be pretty close to mine, that is, until I pulled 'em all out and made a new list!

Here's a mini-run of LB Cole covers I've managed to pull together, still working on matching Billy's run but need a Blue Bolt 117 and 118...anyone have either book for sale/trade? :wishluck:

A bright, bloody L. B. Cole war cover on The Horrors (of War) 11, January 1953, Star Comics.

First story featuring Hitler's ghost is by Disbrow and looks pretty good. Most of the other story artwork is pretty weak, including one signed by Jayson (who's that?). A tale of paratroopers "burning out the Japs" that might interest 'Trooper.

Jack, could Jayson be Disbrow again disguising the fact that he did more than one story? It was not uncommon in pulps for the same writer to have multiple stories in one issue under 3 different names ...

I think you're right, based on the signature w/ a characteristic squiggle under it.

Yet the artwork w/ his own name looks better. Maybe extensive use of assistants (or his son?) on the Jayson story? Maybe he just put more effort into the first story and rushed to finish the last one.
