How to tell a restored comic?

I've bought all my silver key issues cgc'ed as I don't trust my naked eye with possible restored raw comics. Which brings up the question, what are some of the obvious and not so obvious restorations? For example, how can you tell if there are thin paper added to tears? Or color restoration? Or staple replacement? Etc...

I'm sure many members here have had interesting experiences with finding out their raw buys came back restored, would love to hear your stories and what you learned from the experience.

That's a great thread! Alot of these tips require time for the inspection at the comfort of your home. I wonder if there are tips for obvious quick spots when you are looking over books at comic conventions?
