If and when there is serious competition in the third party grading of comics, then CGC will be forced to pay closer attention to customer service and quality control, or risk having their business erode.

The Eagles will win the Superbowl before a true competitor arrives. lol

The graded comic book market will never ever have a rival that stands up to CGC.

Never going to happen. That ship has sailed!

??

What does CGC offer that can never be rivaled?

Follow up question. Why hasn't a legitimate competitor popped up in the last 14 years?

Hit the search button.

Tired of this same question.

When there is a true rival please let me know.

A Cleveland sports team will become a dynasty before that as well.

lol

Why bother posting then?

I'm guessing because none of them have a well known or liked person known in the hobby as its figure head, with investors to start it up.

PGX killed themselves with Terrence Ledger and all that other hoop-lah. Other than them, I would say is partly because CGC is so well established ans trusted that even though they make minor mistakes and Customer Service leaves something to be desired, it what people know and are comfortable with.

exactly!

I always tell people forget the fact that to open up a grading company to rival CGC you need:

1. 1-2 million of cash flow capital

2. good graders

3. trusted resto checker

4. staff, operations, office location, and all the other generic business expenses

5. marketing strategy

lets say you have all of that checked off with no problem.

This to me is beyond the hang-up.

Forget faster turn around times and of course taking some of CGC's modern business or SS etc....

How are you going to convince all the collectors out there that they need to resub all their vintage CGC graded books into the new companies holders? If Company X can't do that they already failed.

The new company will not be able to compete with CGC on just the copper/modern market.

Lets say the new company is much tighter so if you have a Hulk 181 that is a CGC 9.6, but you resub it to the new company and they give it a 9.4. If that pattern persists do you think people will resub CGC books to lose money? Very doubtful

You got to fast track bro. Only way to get your books in a reasonable time. $$ talks.

Apparently that's the way it used to be... Fast Track is about 15 Business Days behind and counting, invoices submitted on Jan 16th and still waiting for the grades.

If "fast track" takes as long as the TaTs for "regular" service, do they refund you the difference?

Now, THATS a funny post! :roflmao:

I have yet to hear of any circumstance where a refund was offered. All those times are estimates, which basically mean, it takes as long as it takes.
