Taking my kid to cons and now she is drawing up a storm!

I just cannot believe how taking my daughter to conventions is paying off. She pencils, inks, and then erases the pencil like a 14 year old pro. Here are her two latest, drawn freehand. I think I should keep her away from Ben Templesmith lest she begin to get squid obsessed.

She overworked the giraffe head I think. It looked better earlier.

Sorry if this is OT but Iam proud of the wee lass and wanted to show her work off. I am trying to get her to do a web comic with me and she seems about ready to agree.

Those are great!

Hmm, my 3-year-old daughter loves drawing, reading comics and always wants me to tell her stories about Spider-Man. I guess I need to start taking her to cons too!

:D

Very nice! The pieces remind me of Jeremy Bastian's work...especially the squid.

She has seen his work, but I was thinking more Templesmith!

These are really good for artists of any age, much less 14.

Seriously, she's better than a lot of the guys with sketchcover opps. in the signature series room.

Thanks Chris. I actually got quite mad when she showed me these as I know how good she is but she will draw and draw and then not draw for months. I have learned to lay off a bit and suddenly there she is smiling with her sketchbook saying "Daddy look at what I drew."

She has colored that giraffe a few different ways now as well. Those cons taught her about the process of making art much more than any classes could, at least at her age,

She's 14, so she is still sleeping, but she will be overjoyed today at these comments. Thanks everyone.

And Ben Templesmith favored my tweet about her drawing squids as well! That was a laugh.
