ALAMO CITY COMIC CON - SEPT. 26-28, 2014 (SAN ANTONIO, TX)

125 posts in this topic

First time at ACCC, but I heard last year the lines were long. Also saw a video on you tube that showed the Sunday line and that was long too.

Pre ordered 3 day pass and will pick up during Thursday's night sneak peak. Can't wait! Less than a week away. Good times

Is there a board meetup planned? Depending on when we arrive Friday we could be down with a few drinks, and Saturday evening definitely.
This should definitely happen Friday or Saturday night -- whatever works for everybody. Legion and I will be there and be set up, so feel free to use the Weird Paper booth as a meetup spot.

I am hoping they are more prepared this year but I can't even find any information on when you can pick up your badges. If the preview is at 5 do most cons start badge pick up before? I can only base this off my experience at Dragoncon where badge pick up begins at 10 AM the day before the con starts. Anyone have any info?

Was a board dinner/drinks ever decided upon?

Haven't seen a set plan yet. My brother and I should be around Friday evening (we hope to get in by 7 to pick up our badges before the show closes), and are definitely up for something Saturday evening. Weird Paper volunteered their booth as a meeting spot.

The booth is listed in the program under my name, not Weird Paper, but we'll be booth 138.

Hello, I've surfing the forums searching for an answer with no success. This will be my first comic con. I'm a pretty reserved person plus not good around large crowds. But I figured the chance to get a signature from Stan Lee will get tough so I will make the drive.

1. How does the CGC signature witness work? Will there be a person at the table escorting me and my raw book to a booth after I get a signature?

2. Can I pay extra to get it verified and sealed quickly? I don't have a Sunday pass so I wanted to get it back the same day even if it means to hang around until night time.

I've been going back to the Alamo City website and it doesn't keep up with information as much as I wish it would.

Thank you for any advice and answers to a long time fan.

Hi Rev, welcome to the boards! I hope you enjoy your first show. If we get some sort of board dinner/meetup organized, and you have the time, hopefully you'll come along.

There should be someone handling the Stan Lee opportunity at the con, so just find out who that is before you get your book signed so you know what to do. If you look around his booth you ought to see something to point you in the right direction. If not, ask someone who looks vaguely official or has a nametag around his booth. I'd bet you'll be able to find out fairly easily.

As for the encapsulation, CGC is not doing onsite grading or encapsulation, so your book will have to be sent to Florida for the grading to take place. This normally takes a few weeks so you won't have to worry about picking it up at the show.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

You mean Weird Paper isn't your name? :baiting:

How about this for a plan: my brother and I will be around Weird Paper's booth (138) at the close of the con on Friday night if anyone wants to get a beer. We'll go with the same deal on Saturday evening, at the close of the show we meet at his booth and figure out where to go for dinner/drinks (I know there is a Fogo downtown, that would get my vote but am not sure how close it is to the center).

Sound good?

ok so I can just pay a price and they will take it then mail it to me later? I don't have to provide a shipping box? Is there a form I can prefill so I can just drop it all of?

Also, what is the title or how do I ask? "Are you doing CGC signature witnessing?"

by the way, I did read the n00b section of SS but it talks about submissions to a facilitator. I can't find anything about walking up and what to do after.

Thank you! My wife and I bought tickets and we're literally looking at this like as a pilgrimage. But when you start looking online for answers then it can be overwhelming. Thanks a lot!

Yes, once you find someone who is witnessing signatures at Stan's booth you would accompany them back to their booth after getting your book signed, then fill out the paperwork and pay the fee. Once you drop the form and your book off with them then you are done. Your book will be shipped back to you from CGC and they will handle all that on their end.

If you look around Stan's booth you should be able to find the person/people who will be witnessing autographs for CGC. Alternatively, check out the Signature room on these boards and there should be an announcement in the announcements thread (at the very top) with information about who may be doing signatures at the show. Those folks will normally be happy for you to get your own book signed if you will be at the show, but talk to them to see.

I'll be set up at booth 410 (sharing with Toymatrix), so let me know what you all decide.
