I thought this was interesting for discussion. Assuming the information is accurate, the comic book biz seems pretty healthy to me? I know there are factors that will prevent apples to apples comparison, but a market supporting a $517 Million industry seems poised to continue.

That $517M figure is "overall", which includes TPBs.

 

The "average price of comic books" info from 97 onward is really interesting. That steady rise probably accounts for some of today's "health".

Not always. I'm still thinking the X-men #1 connecting covers are some of the all-time highest selling covers and you can still get them pretty cheap.

That is probably the worst place if you are buying those particular issues. Checkout the bottom of the list for any titles you actually recognize.
