#2 - Roy Thomas adapts Robert E Howard - "Almuric" - which seems very reminiscent of John Carter, Warlord of Mars. Some pretty art in this issue but the stories are mostly dull.

I have been collecting them, although slowly. It started with just going for the Frazetta covers, but I have expanded a bit. I actually bought a few on the boards here the other day. I actually missed out on a bunch a few days earlier.

Russel's art was so unique back then.My first exposure to him was a random issue of Killraven and then the Dr,Strange Annual he did was so stunning and perfect for that story.\

 

His adaption of Elric is still a forgotten high point of the Copper age.
